Why not take a pic of the bushing when you get a chance?
Not a chance. They're buried up in there I would need the truck lifted to get to them and that's assuming I know what I'm looking at

Top and bottom of rear shock bushings are easily visible.

They're at the top?

I posted a picture of where I think they are and what they're talkin about. But it's the kind of job that a guy is going to do in the garage and make it work and not going to tell you about it. In my case since they knew I was a guinea pig for the Forum They gave me more details.the part they're talking about is on the shock itself .It's where the bolt goes through the bottom of the shock. That was kind of small in stock form. He wanted to use the bolts that came with the kit so he had to do hollow out the bushing he said about 1/32nd

Ordinarily, I might be alarmed and seek more info But this was such a small thing I wanted to make it known here for obvious reasons but ordinarily, I would not have even mentioned it except that a few people are ordering rear shocks only. It's just it wasn't alarming to me to even ask about it I just thanked them for making it all work

I have no idea where they are . I posted a picture of where I think they are and what they're talkin about. In my case since they knew I was a guinea pig for the Forum They gave me more details. I didn't know what part they were talking about but I know what a bushing is and how it's used and there are big fat bolts got to go right through the center of it. That's how I understood but no clunks everything is good. I would do it again .. I didn't see the actual part
Tom, you can't miss 'em. The shock is right there when you look under the rear. Top and bottom bushings are very visible.Just curious to see the inner bushing that's the issue..

ok you got me to go crawling around in a cold garage floor

The bushing is the black part attached to the shocks for mounting. So I can see how they might want to make that center hole bigger to get the larger bolt through it.

LOL!

Is the problem on the top or bottom bolt ins?

To those who think I'm a bit over the top with Subvet...I can be...I'm his older brother.

These were the pics I took under there today. I only got the Eibach rears. I reused the bolts from the factory shocks. No new bolts came with the rear Eibach springs. These fit with no modification using the factory bolts.

I see the bushings in SubVets pics. I don’t think I had those on my stock truck but I’ll check tomorrow.

Here are some more pics of mine installed on the 4x4. The ford stock shocks do have a rubber piece through each end. I did not reuse this when mounting the eibachs. I don’t think I was supposed to and I don’t think there would be room but correct me if wrong!

On my 4x4 non-fx4 the Eibach rear shocks bolted right on without modification. SubVet has 4x2 which might be different. A slightly smaller bolt might work too?
Okay so I went back to the shop today to find out exactly what they modified. A shock comes with a mounting bushing that sits inside the bottom of the shock where you put the bolt through
. In order to use the larger bolts that came with the kit he had to drill out the bottom side are the shock about 1/32nds. I'm sure if you use the OEM stock smaller bolts they would fit as is

I thought the Eibach rear shocks would have had the usual rubber bushing through the shock loop and then a metal sleeve inside that like most shocks. Maybe it was actually the metal sleeve that they just opened up slightly.
And that's exactly right. Didn't know what to call it. With a little metal sleeve have to be drilled out a little bit if one uses the kit bolts. Not a big deal at all

I think your install on the rear shocks are upside down. The Eibach label on my truck is on the top mount and the bellows or on the bottom which makes sense because they would avoid dirt getting into the shock. I did a little research and it seems that monotube’s can be installed in any direction but twin tubes should not be.

It’s odd Eibach

Thanks. I checked with Stage3 and they said mono tube shocks can go in either direction. They prefer them barrel up / shaft down to try and further protect barrel from puncture. I don’t off-road though so I guess either way would be fine by me. Thanks for looking out.

Yeah it set me back for a second there when I saw yours. He told me he was putting the Bellows down to keep dirt from getting into the shock. I thought that's the way they all should go and then I found out with monotube shocks you can put either side in like you say so no harm no foul.....
Actually, when I saw yours I was wondering if mine were correct but I remember my tech telling me that he put the rubber Bellows down because it protects the shock more. Either way it's okay as I try to add some more relevance to this thread l LOL
