It's kind of crazy how much more that is than the similar upgrade for the ecoboost mustangs. That was only $799 from ford perfomance, but could regularly be had for ~$550, but same deal, CAI + tuner and tune.

Weird, isn't the Ranger 2.3L EB rated at 270hp and 310tq? What gives? :sunglasses:
It is, but those aren't wheel numbers, the ones listed on that product are RW HP and TQ numbers.

Price could reflect coverage for their warranty. Maybe they think it will be more likely to have issues being a truck and used for towing.

This is definitely the case. Roush is an official Ford supported tuner so I would have to agree that it's totally the warranty in the pricing.

Oh absolutely. I just think it's interesting. There's significantly better gains on the performance pack for the mustang, and it's provided by Ford Performance, which *also* has a 3/36k warranty with it. For the mustang:
  • Peak gains of 25 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 70 lb-ft at 2200 rpm
  • 40 horsepower and 60 lb-ft average gain from 2500-5000 rpm
  • 75 horsepower and 64 lb-ft average gain from 5500-6800 rpm
  • 100 horsepower maximum gain at 6000 rpm
https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-9603-M4

So yeah, it's just very interesting to see the vast differences despite sharing much of the same tech (not considering the fact that it's a truck application not car).

Would you have to go to a Ford dealership to have the tune uploaded?

Yes. We are drastically detuned so that we can have a 7,500 pound towing capacity without overheating the powertrain.

There is A LOT more power potential on this platforms than 14 more hp. It’s almost sad that they even settled for such low gains, and on 93 at that!

Also sad that their “dyno” graph is a spread sheet graph and not a graph from an actual SAE dyno run.

Yeah, both the ford performance one for the mustang and the roush one for the ranger are like that. I mean, I get it, you want marketing material, not necessarily technical material, but maybe you should try to include both.

Roush spends considerably more time testing and validating than pretty much any other tuner you'll find. They actually run durability fatigue tests on an engine dyno, just like Ford. You can bet they're as safe as it gets. And... with this being called "L1", they likely have more coming...
