but with the fans being inside an enclosure, how much are they really helping? That’s my thought.
That's exactly what I'm thinking. Especially with them being right up against the dust caps.

I think I'm going to get a nice bright/white color halogen for now until there's a better option for our headlamps.

Another thing that was happening when I was testing them out was they were being finicky and unpredictable. Turning on different colors (right white, left yellow), or not switching when I wanted them to. But I tried again this morning on my drive into work and they worked as advertised. So I'm thinking it had something to do with the truck being keyed on, but not turned on.
I am experiencing this as well with the same lights. Sometimes they come on with the same color. But if they don't, it seems almost impossible to get them to go back to being the same color. These are great fog lights, but if I cannot figure out a fix for this issue, then I'm probably just going to get some full-time yellow ones.

Question: Do your headlights (fog, lows, or highs) come on at slightly different times? For instance, my passenger side light comes on a split second before my drivers side light, for any light (fog, lows, or highs). It's not as noticeable with the halogens, but since the LEDs come on essentially instantaneously, you can see it happen with them. And because of this, when I start the truck and the fogs are already turned on, the quick light stutter just from starting the truck causes the passenger one to cycle colors before the driver one can even turn on, resulting in them being out of sync.

To fix that I just do a very quick few cycles of the fogs (push the fog light button very quickly a few times) to essentially do the same thing that created the problem: cycle the passenger side one before the drivers side even turns on once. Theoretically an odd number of cycles will fix it, but usually I just mash the button for a few seconds and by the end they've been synced.

To keep that from ever happening in the first place though, I've started to always turn off the fog lights before turning off the truck, so that they don't try to come on while the truck is starting. Now that I've started to do that, I haven't had any problems at all. And they've been an amazing set of fogs! The whites are great for normal clear driving, and the yellows have been great for the now majority snow covered roads and snowy conditions.

Feel free to DM me if you are still having trouble, want to know more, or have questions.

I just got my SLF LED fog lamps from Diode Dynamics and got them installed yesterday. The difference is incredible, and I trust their LED tech, so I was looking at their website, but they currently only offer HID upgrades which I won't put in our housings. They also discuss the differences between bulbs and quality of them.

So for now, I'm waiting for them to drop some LEDs for the Ranger and will likely grab them when they come out.

That's my concern as well. For now I've been running them without the dust covers but I don't think that's a good long term solution.

I have bought these rubber dust covers by Car Rover which let the heatsink/fan stay on the outside while keeping the inside of the housing free of dirt, but I've been to busy to try installing them yet. The heatsink/fan assembly will still be subject to getting dirty and will need to be cleaned periodically, but there will be no heat buildup problem:

That was a great video - I had no idea there was so much complexity in lighting like that. One thing I really like is that they took more of an engineering viewpoint in the lighting. I see now why their LEDs are a bit more than others. Not all LEDs are created equal.

Thanks for posting it!

Exactly. I don't try to give companies free advertising, but DD has consistently proven that they try to be objective in their testing and they're really great about explaining things and giving the numbers as they are even if their products don't come out on top.

CarRover made me a deal to try out a new set of bulbs they just came out with. I'm super impressed. They are in the 1:1 format (no extra box). I was initially skeptical about how well they would work due to the lack of being able to rotate them, but I guess I was wrong. Holy crap are they good! Nice focused tight beam. They installed super easy and clear the dust caps with ease. They are also really quiet. I couldn't hear them with the dust caps off! I think you guys will be really impressed as well. The only downside (and it's not really one) is they I'm going to have to aim my lights again. I had to turn down the headlights due to the old LEDs, but these are going to have to go back up. Probably back to where the halogens were by the looks of things. Here's a link if you want to check them out:

Have you had any flickering with those car rover bulbs?

I think I'm going to drop a few bones on the ZXE Gold Sylvania halogen bulbs for now.

I got the Auxito low and high beams installed. It took about an hour, mainly due to struggling to get the LEDs clocked right, and also the windshield washer fill nozzle is exactly in the way on the passenger side. All the LEDs tucked under the dust covers nicely, and I got lucky with wiring polarity on all four. The plugs will allow connection either way which seemed odd, normally they will be keyed so the plug can go together only one way.

Anyway they all work and will check out at night, but I didnt see any flickering at all. Still awaiting the Pro foglights from DD. Should have the truck all lit up!

Almost all of the led's do that so that you can use them in an H9 or H11 socket.

Well I went for a drive with the new LEDs and they provide a LOT more light! Did not get flashed by anyone so good to go until I get the pods from DD for the fog lights. Hopefully will ship soon. I forgot to enter the 20% discount code when I ordered so they are not going to apply that . Bummer but I should not be in such a hurry as usual.
