I havent had stability control apply on the ranger, but I did have it do it on my F150 once.
I went into a sharp right merge/turn a little too hot and the back end swung out on me. Then it got weird and I wasnt sure what was going on.
I dont like the application as it felt odd, and I'm more than capable of countersteering myself in a slide and turning an oops into a fun drift. but it performed as designed and straightened me out quick.
Is it for me? probably not, is it good for alot of other drivers? I'm positive thats a yes.
I dont know how it is designed to prevent a rollover, unless it works its magic so early that you dont get sideways with enough momentum to do so.
Also think its feels strange when it engages. Seems to be a combination of pulling power and braking wheels.
The thing is, we should be able to have it both ways! Leave everything enabled, then when I manually hold the button down for 10 seconds, actually turn that shit off and leave it off till I restart, or push the button again.

It still has active stability control, it cannot be disarmed. This is the thing that keeps the wheels pointing down under all circumstances. You can thank Firestone for this.
When I turn the traction control off (first push of button), then turn off the Advance Trac (push and hold button), fishtailing and donuts in loose dirt are no problem. I get no interference from the control systems.

That's how it should be.

Hmm, maybe you have to do a short push AND the long push to turn it off completely. Instead of skipping the short push and just doing a long push only. Worth to experiment to see if there's a difference.

I tried it both ways. I still get intervention once the back end starts to come out.

first snow of the season and all I have to say is different year, same problem. RSC/ETC almost made me crash again from the inconsistent power to the wheels. shuts down then throws torque out causing you to spin more. how is this a “safety” feature again?

Yep, another winter to be annoyed by this.

It's never ever completely off. If the truck feels like it's going to spin or tip over, it's going to intervene. Zero things you can do about it unfortunately.

I do find that the 4x4 Terrain management for snow/ice makes power delivery 100x more predictable in extremely low traction environments. The power delivery is linear and smooth instead of jerky and abrupt.

Oh, since then I've figured out how to turn it off completely. You just have to press and hold the traction control button AND lock your rear diff. Donuts for days in the mud or snow when you lock your diff.

Only until ~25mph then it unlocks automatically.

I can confirm this works I was on snow and wasn't even ready for the power slide and almost went into a fence but caught it.

When you get to your off road spot or open area to play around, pop the hood and take fuse #25 out. Now everything is disabled completely ???. Works like a charm lol.

I feel a mod coming on... Adding a switch on my dash that has a red flip cover with ‘fun mode’ printed on it. Now you can kill the connection to fuse 25 with the lift and flick of a switch! Let the good times ‘roll’ ?

How do you know for sure when the ASC is off after the long press? I see right away the TC is off. I'm holding for a long press but don't see a confirmation? Maybe I didn't press it for long enough time, idk.

From what I recall it's a "slightly longer than comfortable" press. Short press, wait for the notification to leave, then do the long press.
