.

I saw this article concerning reliability of new or redesigned vehicles:

https://www.foxbusiness.com/lifestyle/consumer-reports-finds-vehicle-redesigns-come-with-glitches

here is an excerpt from this article that was interesting in regards to the Ranger:

In the survey of subscribers with more than 400,000 vehicles, Consumer Reports found that 45% of new or redesigned vehicles have below-average predicted reliability. The survey covered model years 2000 to 2019, and more than 300 models.

The magazine said a small group of new or redesigned vehicles had above-average reliability, defying the trend. Those included the new Ford Ranger midsize pickup and the redesigned Toyota Avalon large sedan.
Now that's scary! Consumer reports has been wrong on everything from toasters to trucks for 50 years.
I'll try not to be afraid to drive my Ranger this week!:giggle:

True consumer reports usually pans everything that's not an import.

it was a nice feature and gets drivers attention behind you when hard braking. overpriced option IMO. my $20k 2015 Mazda 3 had that as standard.
Fact is, its a great feature ... until it becomes common!
Then its just more visual noise.

In regards to reliability data which was the subject of this article, CR compiles this data directly from the annual surveys filled out by the owner's of the vehicles. I suppose one could argue that CR may be fraudulently compiling the data but that seems highly unlikely to me.

Ever read a survey of any kind?
Frustrating ain't it?
CR has been around for most all of our lives.
I found that they could not be trusted on virtually anything about which I was knowledgeable, leaving me to suspect the rest.
Apparently its their basic methodology which can not be trusted.

They are still around, so anyone who chooses can certainly rely on them.
To quote America's best lyric poet...
"All lies in jest.... Still, a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest"

Just saw a new review from TFL Truck today! Actually did the Ranger some good justice against the Tacoma I think!

You beat me to it! The taco clearly showed its “Pro” sticker is just that. Not much else.

That was great and even played with some of the features yesterday out in the forest. No issues.

It's never a great feature. If you think blinking lights help avoid accidents, you should look into how many people slam into big red fire trucks with blinking lights. If someone's not paying attention to the point that they don't see your brake lights, making the lights blink isn't going to help.

I pretty much agree, my point is that if the novelty of it does anything,... it will soon lose its effectiveness as it becomes more common.

This was linked in the comments from the Ranger vs F250 Tremor video. Not a fun watch...
