Tailgate saver

This is my placeholder rack until I build a rack, however for light duty carrying jobs up to 10 ish feet in length it’s awesome. Being able to open the tailgate and keep the lip from getting chewed up is a big plus. Angle iron on the bed rails, 1 x 2 rect tube across, straps into the rear tie downs. For reference the long boards are 9’ and 10’, lumber is 8’ and 10.’

Yep, it’s a pretty easy one to fab. Added some 1/4” foam tape where the angle fits on/over the bed rail so it doesn’t scratch/slide/rattle. @PNW_Ranger87

Looks good and probably works far better than my Pool Noodle solution!

Great Job! I have so much left over 1" square tubing 16 gauge from my decorative metal business that this would simple to do to save the tailgate. My steel supplier gets stuff 22 ft long, which have to have him cut in half...hauling this stuff is hell on the tailgate...
