SOLVED: Engine Shroud Cover Missing On XL and XLT Trims?

Thanks all for the links. I ordered and installed one for my xlt as well. It just looked so wrong looking at the engine all naked. Looked unfinished. I was surprised at the material it is made of. It is like a tough foam that is flexible.

I had thought about painting it with high temp paint like I did for my mustang v8 engine cover. Just to make it look custom. I didn’t dare apply paint to the foam cover...

Any guesses as to why Ford selected a flexible engine cover for the 2.3’s in the Rangers?

I have a separate chamois just for that purpose, to wipe down the engine after each wash. Keeping it clean also helps to spot leaks if any develop over the years.

Kudos to Ford for cost reducing this cover out of the lower end models. Just a another piece of obstructing, cosmetic plastic you have to remove when you need to work on something.

its foam not plastic and it cuts down on the injector noise, so it serves an actual purpose, also why the hell does it bother you so much if people do stuff to their car you don't like?

Yes, the XL / XLT have to cover in all my years I cannot believe that this is an option on a $40K Truck... I just ordered one !!

Opened up my Hood to find the engine cover missing? Some had it on, some not but I made my dealer put one on mine off another one... He did not know why it was missing? Is your's missing? Anyone know why?
