Sorry, just saw ,Lightning Blue.
I am pleased to have received my RAV offer which we are accepting as it is exceptional. We share the 2.3L rear wheel drive package with the Mustang and when I bought my 2.3L 2015 50th Anniversary coupe I joined the Mustang6G forum. The 2.3L was setting the CEL for misfire on startup (I had it also). Over the course of the 'investigations' by the forum members the issue was resolved with a TSB to lower the threshold of the misfire conditions to set the CEL (the dealer did this to my car as well and the CEL did not come back). That seemed to work to lower the instances of the CEL but the members seemed to 'fix it' by replacing the spark plugs with a new set with the gaps balanced to spec. Some of the plugs removed from the user vehicles had some significant gaps (user data).
I am not saying that our Rangers have the same issue with the plugs but I am just sharing that Mustang6G folks were centering in on something.
I have since sold my 6G Mustang and almost forgot all about this until I saw the thread here.
I just cane to these forums in search for some answers or discussions on blown head gaskets for the new rangers. My 2019 Fx4 XLT Ford ranger (15k miles) is in the shop right now due to a blown head gasket. I asked the dealership what the root cause was based on their investigation, they stated it was manufacturing defect. They said the gasket was fitted wrong and it was not the correct size for "these new engines" as he said.Hi,
This sounds like a blown head gasket. how and why , I cannot imagine. Doubt we will be able to get the full story here.

Hi Kyle,I just cane to these forums in search for some answers or discussions on blown head gaskets for the new rangers. My 2019 Fx4 XLT Ford ranger (15k miles) is in the shop right now due to a blown head gasket. I asked the dealership what the root cause was based on their investigation, they stated it was manufacturing defect. I knew it was a blown head gasket before i brought it into them... This is how it happened.
When accelerating lightly (not even 4000 rpm) and when the engine was warm (not fully hot, but not cold either, engine was running for 10 mins before this happened), my truck overheated. Lost all power, no more coolant in the reservoir, and i had to drive the truck in limp mode for 3 miles back home.
Got back home, thought that my truck was just very low on coolant and i ran out (suspicious but possible considering the amount of offroading ive done). Drove it the next day after filling up with coolant and it was fine, except i was losing coolant at an abnormal rate. The day after that, I started up and water and coolant coming out of exhaust. Telltale sign of head gasket. Checked oil but it was fine.
So thats how it happened. Been in the shop for 24 days now...
This is a manufacturing defect apparently, so dont let Ford wiggle their way out of this if your vehicle is not covered under warranty. Head gaskets should not be failing in vehicles with less than 30k miles, hell i dont know of ANY vehicles in my past that have had head gasket failures at 180k miles.
