I got a TPMS bypass module from tpmsbypass.com and I've gone through the training method several times, but it always fails. I'm supposed to hold the module close to the receiver, but I'm only guessing about the location. Anybody know where it is?

Rangers use the radio transceiver module to pickup tpms data. It's in the headliner by the sunglasses holder.

And by "TPMS bypass module" do you mean "I had them put my TPMS sensors in a PVC pipe fitted with a valve stem"?

That is easily done, and would fit quite nicely in the back under the seat, and there's no programming to screw around with :)

No, it's some Brit who makes a module for ~$50 that puts out a signal to dupe the TPMS receiver. A lot cheaper than having four tires dismounted and the sensors removed, and easier than building the canister.

Just curious why you would want to do this? Do you find the TPMS stuff to be problematic? I really like the ability to see if any tires are low without having to check them manually.

I ordered an aftermarket wheel & tire package online. Vendor said they didn't know what sensor went in the new Ranger, so I just had them throw in standard valves. Plus, on a previous vehicle, two of my TPMS valves fractured (not at the same time) because aluminum + salty Massachusetts roads = corroded aluminum. Those repairs cost more than this module.

I was figuring you were already having new tires put on the old wheels. If they are already out, it's cheap to build a canister and fill it with your air compressor. Seen it done 100 times in other cars. Can probably get the parts needed for 15$

New wheels and tires, mounted & delivered. Having the sensors pulled out of the stockers would've cost money I don't wanna spend.

Any chance you know the frequency it's on? I'm now working with TPMSbypass.com's engineering to see if we can get this sorted. I held the module close to the overhead console (and all over the truck for good measure), but it will not train.

The sensor listed for a ranger by rock auto is 433MHz. If you give me a few weeks to replace my tires I can verify the frequency.

Matt,

Were you able to verify the TPMS sensor frequency? Rock Auto also shows a 315MhZ TPMS42 if you look under 2019 Ranger ->"Wheel"-> "Valve Stem Cap".

Thanks!

JM

433 is correct.

Edit. It is most definitely 315. I remembered incorrectly.

I don't understand the logic of defeating a safety device, let a lone a non-$0 amount to do so. Nor do I understand the logic of $40,000 truck, $1000 aftermarket wheels and tires, won't spend $100 to have a tire shop pull some tpms sensors. Good luck with that:thumbsdown:
