Just started a long road trip and after 10 hours on i80, I realized I don't have a rear tail light cover. Not sure if this is a whole unit or if the cover is replaceable.

Anyone have any experience with fixing/replacing these?

There's another thread, it's a whole unit, and it costs 1200USD... Yours seems to be a warranty issue though because it's literally vanished without a trace.

I'd have my dealer order a new one since this one was obviously not sticked properly.

EDIT: I see a sizable dent above the missing tail light, my guess is it might have something to do with the un-sticked lense.

that the cover managed to fall off on a sealed module is impressive. Even it it had been struck, i'd expect bits to be left behind. Take it to the dealer and complain.

Is that a little bit of red glass at the bottom of the second picture? Combined with the dent, I'd say insurance claim rather than warranty claim.

I would try the warranty route first, or just buy one rear assembly. I’m sure if you talk to Ford you might be able to get one with a discount, they’re super easy to take out.

Dent happened months ago and there were no cracks, the dealer ship in the town I'm passing through thought the way it failed was suspect. Ford agreed after we removed the assembly and saw no damage to the housing.

Supplier quality defect then... By Ford did you mean a Ford District rep or the dealer?

Dealer was working with the rep, fully documented.

Good! This will get back to the supplier and generate corrective action in most cases..Thanks!

I remember Ford had a recall on certain Lincoln Versailles in the eighties where the taillight lens would separate from the housing.
The fix was to re-attach it with butyl tape.
Deja vu?
