OMG! Wonder what the story is behind this vehicle...

Back Story...I was over at Ford Racing on day and there was a discussion of renaming Special Vehicle Operations. One of the new names was Ford Advanced Racing Technology or FART....Great we have TURDS and FARTS....thus the rename became just Ford Racing....

best,

I'd love to read the Tacoma forum fanboys excuses for that.

Toyota bought back my ā€˜99 Tacoma PreRunner due to frame rot. The issue was VERY real, I was about to replace brake shoes and the jack broke my frame in 2.
I took my fat check from Toyota and went and bought a GMC Seirra, never again will Toyota get me in one of their trucks

I wonder if the service department will say that the truck was like that when they got it. Can you imagine if you came to pick up your truck and it was just parked off to the side looking like that?

Could this be Toyota's version of variable wheelbase displacement?

Three people I work with had their Tacoma or Tundras recalled for frame rot. Two of them Toyota replaced the frames. The third they bought back his Tacoma, he turned around and bought a used Tundra the dealer had but would not let him have it until they replaced the frame.

A friend of mine was the service manager at the local Toyota dealer. He used to drive the shop truck home most nights. On his way to work after a snow storm he stopped at my house and plowed the driveway. He stopped at another friends house on his way in that day to plow his driveway. He caught the plow blade on a corner stone at the corner of the driveway and snapped the frame right behind where the plow frame was attached.

Yet the Toyota fanboys will still defend it and continue to buy them.

The frame rot is very real and you can go to the dealer and have it inspected if it hasn't started they will spray your frame to HELP prevent the cancer from spreading if bad enough they will do a frame swap or a buyback. I had no frame rot on my 3rd gen but after 3 years started showing some before I sold it. 3rd gen taco is frame rot and sagging leaf springs, both a recall or TSB thingy.

I was shopping for a used truck to replace my 20 year old Dodge Dakota. The Dakota still ran well and the rust on the body was not awful but underneath the rot was pretty bad and a couple of places on the frame were getting what I would call dangerous.

Anyway, I was looking for something in the 2010 to 2015 range that was solid and ran well. I looked at several Tacoma's in that age range and they all had 145,000 to 195,000 miles on them and they wanted $15k to $18k for them. I made what I thought was reasonable offers and they did not counter offer, the price was as marked. Amazingly they were all sold with in a couple of weeks.

Wife suggested getting a new truck but I could not justify to myself a new truck that would sit most of the time as a spare vehicle so one of my other cars had to go. My 17 Mustang was worth about $6k more in this market than it was last year so a deal was struck on a 2021 Ranger Lariat with the Tremor package and I am once again driving a pickup as a daily driver.
