I'm planning on ordering the F150led kit. How did your install go and are you happy with it?

Edit

I found your write-up on the installation. Are you still happy with it?
John,

Yes...still very happy with the F150LEDs light kit. Zero issues with about 5500 miles now on the Ranger. Waiting on some new lighted door sill plates that F150LEDs is working on. I might be testing those for them on the Ranger.

My next project will probably be to add some rubber insulation around the tailgate area like some other members have done. I travel down a lot of long rural dirt roads to the Gulf each weekend to kayak fish. When it's hot and dry, that fine white dust gets everywhere. I don't mind washing the bed out, but for days when I pull the trailer (versus one kayak in the bed), I want to be able to keep dust out when the tailgate is up.

Thanks for the thorough instruction document you created. I contacted F150LEDs this morning and they still recommend their F150 kit. No special kit or instructions for the Ranger on their site or planned, I guess. I'll just use your write-up as a guide with some modification since I have a different Ford roll up cover and LineX spray on. I hope the LED strip sticks to the LineX ok.

My Ford roll-up/Truxport cover leaks rainwater at both ends so I plan on using a tailgate seal and some additional weather sealing too.

Use silicone to help hold it in place

Ordered a set. After reading this thread, I may just have the dealer do it. It needs to go in for the recall and the recent error code problems that I just had. Might as well do all of it. (I thought this set plugged into the connector under the back bed?)

I used this kit and it did not stick well to the LineX so I bought a roll of VHB tape.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007Y7E0CQ/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I did not use the supplied Silicon because the LED strips had such poor adhesion. The VHB worked great. It's slightly wider than the LED but that didn't hurt anything.

Also used the excess from the two LED strips to make an under-hood light that works well. You just need to solder or buy clips to attach wires to one of the ends of the 2 pieces.

Whelp, had the dealer install the lights few days ago and they worked fine. Went out early this morning and turned them on, ok. Went to turn them off by touch and only the one I touched shut off. Was hit or miss but had to touch 3 out of 4 by touching each one. Anyone else?
Not taking chance waiting for timer in case I forget and they kill battery.

Anyone installed this bed light kit on a SCab ? Or does it only fit SCrew. Instructions show SCrew.

What did they charge you for install? Looking at having the set I purchased installed at a dealer. Did you figure out the off touch issue.

I wanna say $99... been awhile. Used my points. As for the issue, I figured it out. Each one of those lights have a circuit board in them. The light on the driver side behind cab was tightened down too much. Loosened up the screw and been good ever since. Work great.

Cool. Mine should arrive at the dealer soon. But after reading the install instructions I think I want them to do it.

Might be helpful to know that in my 2021 truck there were three wires under the right rear door that were white with a green stripe. Two of them the stripe twisted around them wire, and on the other one it was straight along the wire, if that makes sense. That was the wire that seems to be hooked to the bed light control

Can you change the time out of that light with Fore-scan?

A lot are repetitive between spray in and drop in bed liners.

Thanks for posting the instructions! I can't tell from the document how the 4 lights are sealed against the bed spray liner. Is there a gasket on the backside to prevent moisture from getting behind each light?
