I finally got the Thinkware hardwire kit working after reading lots of advice online and from @j0shm1lls.

I used fuse 29 (Micro 2 Fuse - 30A) for constant power and fuse 37 (Micro 2 Fuse - 20A) for ignition power/parking mode.

You need to butt splice the constant power fuse with the red hardwire cable, and butt splice the ignition power fuse with the yellow hardwire cable.

I used heat shrink cables to make a clean install of the add a fuse cable to hardwire kit.

So after driving for a few days with the hardwired dash cam, I can report that it doesn't affect the Auto Start/Stop feature and ACC will not turn off the dash cam when engaged.

It could be that since Fuse 29 and Fuse 37 are not used by the truck, those fuses won't affect ACC.

Ditto: I've had my old super-mondo-cheap Blackbox G1W hooked up for two weeks now and I can report the same. Works just fine with Fuse 37 and does not have any issues when stop/start is activated.

I installed my dashcam last night and wanted to provide a quick how-to since I tapped directly into the mirror instead of running cable down to the fuse box. Tapping the mirror power will allow the camera to start during remote start and doesn't turn off with the auto-off feature of our vehicle.

Products Used:

Method Used:
  • First I cut the end of the invisicord off and the end of the left angle Mini USB from Amazon and connected the left angle to the invisicord product, soldered and used some shrink wrap to keep it secure. Again this is optional

  • Other end of the invisicord product. This is what we'll use to tap into the mirror's power

  • Start by removing the top part of the cowl directly behind the mirror. Do not attempt to remove the lower part containing the safety camera etc. Once removed you'll see a small grey connector containing 3 cables: Blue, Black and Green. We are interested in the Blue and Black cables.

  • Insert the Red end of the invisicord into the same hole with the blue cable. Then, insert the black end of the invisicord into the same hole with the black cable. We are not touching the green cable.

  • At this point I stopped and plugged in my camera to ensure it turned on. When everything worked I started putting the cowl back on and did a little cable management.

Cowl on and Camera mounted before tucking camera cable back in to safety camera housing and cowl. I got the invisicord with the in-line fuse. The fuse fit nicely behind the cowel.

Cables tucked away and camera in position that I can't see it from driver seat. Note the optional left hand Mini USB. Much cleaner bend around the camera and into cowl for easy cable management.

Hope this helps.

Dashcam really helped out today. Caught the wreck on camera today on the way home. Pulled around and provided the footage to the officer and the drivers for their insurance company's. Driver in a Toyota Acura SUV cut off the van pulling the trailer. While trying to avoid a collision locked up the tires but that heavy trailer pushed them right into the F250 sitting in the turn lane. Toyota drove off :curse: Everyone was okay.

edit: Shoot just saw the show and tell forum. Mods feel free to move if appropriate.

The van pulling trailer was at fault there; he was traveling in the RH LH turn lane and moved back into the LH thru lane. The Toyota SUV was minding its own business.

Shavlik, it did look like the suv cut him off but as Ranger 6 said, he was supposed to be in a left turn lane, instead he goes straight. It’s still kind of hard to tell

Yeah looks like they entered the left turn lane attempting to avoid the SUV. Either way Van was traveling way too fast especially while pulling the heavy trailer. If you watch the video and look at the cadence of the rest of traffic then watch the van come in you'll see the difference.

When you tucked it behind the review mirror did you just pry a little and push the wire in or did you remove the entire shroud?

I separated the shroud and removed it to route the wires as cleanly as I could.

Does it just pull off or is there a specific way to pull it off without breaking anything
