These are the parts you will need to remove to get to the radio. More involved than i expected.

1)Bottom sides pop off. Glove box needs to be open to accomplish this, as well as the fuse panel that pulls down on the drivers side.
2)Top radio bezel snaps off.
3)Vents snap off.
4)Bottom bezel has (2) 9/32 or 7mm screws, then pops off.
*Note: gear shift needs to be put in gear to make room for taking bezels out.
5)Top bezel has (4) screws then pops off.
6)The main radio unit is under the display and is removed (4) screws.

Curious, did you do this to install a new radio? I also have the 4.2 screen and REALLY want a bigger screen with Android auto and Apple Care play enabled...

No i did it just to get to the back of the head unit to grab the outputs for amps. Everything is possible, just work and sacrifices. I've done a lot of custom dashes adding screens but i have no interest in doing that. I only want good sound.

Are there pre outs for an amp on the stock radio?

Nope. You need to use a hi low converter. $20 item. Or you can use one of Audio Controls products for conversion which are great.

While you were back there, did you happen to see a way to add an aux input?

No not easily. There is probably a way but its going to need some kind of adapter by someone like PAC.

I didn't break any and you have to pull pretty hard to break it loose. I have had it apart several times now and the two side bottom panels are the hardest to get off and on.

UPDATE: Ive finally got a couple amps in and a 10" Skar Audio in a 1cuft custom box behind the drivers side firing toward the floor. Its not picture worthy yet so ill post later. Bass is pretty impressive but I have big expectations so Im not sure ill settle with the current set up. This is the reason i didn't do a slim box behind the back seat, I knew i would be disappointed. If I didn't have a kid i would delete the entire back seat LOL. This truck has to be one of the most limited space vehicles Ive worked on. If it had a split back seat it would help a lot.

Just ordered a plug and play Harness from T-Harness. We’ll see how my install goes hopefully this weekend once my packages from Skar and T Harness arrive.

Decided to build an enclosure using the box under passenger side rear seat.

I will be installing Skar TX65 6.5” coaxial speakers in all four doors and a Skar VD-10 10” Sub with speakers running off a SK-M400D 400W Amplifier and the sub running off a SK-M5001D 500W Monoblock Amplifier.

Held off on tweeters for now since I’m still deciding if I want Bullets or the smaller dome tweeters.

I’ll post pics of the install.
