Thanks, do you know if its rated to handle at least 40amps for the Twin compressor?
(While I was under there, only thing I saw was the Tow/power harness)
I think its safer If I run 10gauge wiring from battery then attach it to the ARB 40 amp maxi fused harness.
@Akshon would know. So would anyone who has a drop-in bedliner.

Edit: Never mind it's only 20 amps
Parts were about $65. The alternative being to find/order a truck with the ā€œBed Utility Packageā€ 86Q which comes with a plastic drop in bedliner.
This gets you a 20 amp- 12 Volt outlet. Similar to those in the dash. You could probably run a small 12-120v inverter off of it.

That is how I ran it on my jeep JK and JL, but on the Ranger, no access to truck bed from cab, makes it a challenge.
Isn't it fuse relay 17 in the fuse box. 20A Auxiliary power point - rear cargo area?

Thanks, for the info. But the ARB twin comp requires more than 20amps unfortunately.
(see below. Its the one in the bottom of the chart)

I finally got the ARB compressor harness hooked up today.
I used 12 volt quick connect, then ran 10ga wiring from battery to the bed.
(routed the wires on the driver side frame rail, next to the factory harness)
Will try to post pics tomorrow.
Edit: see below

So, following what ARB recommends in their instructions,
I ended up installing the 40A fuse(x2) next to the battery, then
used 10ga (same as orig) primary wires as extension (x2) and left the ground 8ga.
Routed the wiring as above , from bed to drivers side frame rail, under hood then to battery.
(I used 12 volt quick connects, in case I ever decide to transfer my onboard air setup to another vehicle)
Anyway, here are some pics to anyone interested.:)

Hereā€™s a few more pics...I cleaned up the wiring in the bed.
I relocated the shovel and also the ARB switch outside the box.
It surprisingly can handle air tools too (135 up to 150 psi per ARB)
Anyway, Thatā€™ll be all for now. I think I'm done modding the swing out tool boxes.(for now) LoL:giggle:

So...200plus miles since adding the tool boxes and mods. So far so good.
The right one weighs at least 30lbs with gear and tools and left one has the ARB setup.
No signs of cracks or issues. Only other thing I did was lube the hinges and locking mechanism.
Went off-roading on sand today, lots of deep ruts soft sand (a good stretch of highway to get there was bumpy to say the least). Anyway, I will update you guys if Thereā€™s any long term problems or issues.

Not really a build thread, but thought I share this idea ( to anyone interested).
The Oem swing out tool boxes are great, but not alot of space inside for all the other stuff( shovel, axe, first aid kit, etc).
I used QuickFist clamps, assorted metric nuts and screws and a power drill.
For the fire extinguisher, I used a bike aluminum drink bottle holder and large QF clamp on top(trimmed to fit).
The Molle panel has metal grommets on the backside making it easy to secure with screws.
Anyway, anyone with basic DIY skils can do something similar to this if they want to.

Great idea, I've been waiting for Builtright Industries to get back to me to see if they will be releasing for the Ranger the same bedside rack system they developed for the F150.

I actually ordered a Builtright kit for my 17 Raptor...but I ended up selling it before I got the chance to install it.
It would be neat if they come up with something similar for the Ranger.:)

KnightRanger,
I'm curious what tonneau cover you are using. I have the pivot boxes installed and looking for a cover. It appears you have the Extang Solid Fold. I was browsing real truck website and it said the following covers will not work with the swing cases: Downey Quick Flip, Extang Solid Fold, Extang Trifecta, Lund Genesis and Advantage Kwik Draw. Thanks.

Yes, itā€™s the ExTang solid fold. The only slight annoyance is that, you have to slightly swing out each tool box to access the two latch release. Otherwise, itā€™s very well made and durable.

Curious, do you have to lift swinging side of the box to get it to latch back in place? I have to with mine but I donā€™t see anywhere to adjust to correct this. Mine says a good bit when swung out.
