I love the look and the versatility of the rear seat in my new STX.
I plan on keeping the back seat in my Mustang as well.
Heck, I was a bit disappointed when they decided not to offer the back seat in the EXP.
The Ranger SuperCab functions as a coupe at least as well as the SuperCrew functions as a Sedan.
Both function well as trucks as well, in spite of obvious differences in box capacities.
I feel that I sacrificed a shorter wheelbase to make room for the versatility of the SuperCab for passengers as well inside storage and the ability to recline the front seats.
The back seat delete provides almost no more room, but you do lose the versatility and convenience as well as the appearance and resale.
All models have the same wheelbase

Cab style SuperCab SuperCrew®
Pickup box style 6 ft. Styleside 5 ft. Styleside
Drive system 4x2 4x4 4x2 4x4
Wheelbase 126.8 in. 126.8 in. 126.8 in. 126.8 in.
Overall length 210.8 in. 210.8 in. 210.8 in. 210.8 in.

That is true and it was a major sacrifice for me to purchase a Ranger with a foot more wheelbase than the one I just sold.
Hopefully the loss in driveability will be offset by the advantages listed.
A long wheelbase is like running in clown shoes, and while the Ranger is acceptable in that regard, it approaches the limit.
It is comfortable and handles well in a sedate sort of way.
Judiciously chosen tires and shocks may enhance what fun factor it does have.
It is still early yet, and I am optimistic!

You're in luck, XL trucks only come in Ebony.
I think the back seat delete may only be available as an option on the XL trim level?
Certainly, Ebony will be available, and probably no other color.

Awesome I'll give those part numbers to my guy at the dealership and hopefully they can get it fairly quickly. I personally think it looks and functions way better without the seats. Thanks for the info!!

I have removed the seat bottoms and will look into the seat-delete parts to remove the backs as well I wish I had thought about or known about the rear-seat-delete option back last Thanksgiving when I was ordering this buggy.

Meanwhile, I use a rugged pet-hammock suspended between the headrests as my gear-bag catch-all.

I suppose you could put some sound deadening material behind that panel?

Are the seat backs easy to remove?

Yes the seat backs remove with one bolt located between the headrest posts. You have to peel the child seat anchor velcro cover to access the bolt. You will need a 1/2 inch socket, 13 mm fits too. Once you remove the bolt you have to fight the two clips at the bottom of the seat back to remove it. The only way I could get the clips to release is to grab the top of the seat back and rock it to the left and right until one side unclips. Then you can wiggle the other clip loose.
The sound deadening material is a no go solution in this location. The two cabin vents are located underneath the seat backs. They are a cabin noise source but closing them off is not an option.

Shoot.. I was hope to add some sound deading back there as I put the cover on the back, it seems to be a bit more noisy with the "Drum" sound of the wind hitting it.

As requested by @rangerdanger, this is what the rear seat delete option looks like in the supercab XL.

Rear seat delete option unavailable in the Lariat trim level, was looking to save the hide off of some hapless bovine...
