What's the staus of the Airbag Recall on some of these? Certainly something to be wary of IMHO!
I know all 04-06 rangers have the air bag replacement recall. Not sure about the 07-11's

Yeah, I sold off my 04 when they recalled them with no date of a replacement in 2016. Had a Tacoma for 2 years to tide me over.

My '06 had the passenger airbag replaced first because they had the bags for that but not the driver's. Had to wait 2yrs for the drivder's bag. When I took it in, they replaced both sides. The '08s we have at work just had their bags changed under recall.

if the price is right and in good condition go for it. the 4g rangers are good trucks. i have an o5 and its never needed anything other normal up keep and still runs like a top. yes air bag issues, but fixed free. many cars had similar recalls not just ford or rangers. i think my new ranger will be at a salvage yard long ahead of the miles or age of my 05...

This thread is 4 years old and the OP hasn't been back on here since 2018. I think he's probably sold it by now.

I've caught myself liking old posts that someone resurrected. I try to remember to look at the date now.
And I'm sure that Ranger isn't any cheaper in price now.
And the old Rangers are still in demand and commanding premium prices.

Yeah that Ranger probably is worth a lot more in todays crazy market. Funny once I realized it was dated back to 2018 I thought it was Paul @OrangeStreak up to his old tricks again. He was on a roll last year resurrecting old threads, sometimes 2-3 a day. ??

I've let down on the old thread chase :frown: to focus on maintaining my crooked parking championship title ? ?. But if KJRR is up for an old thread challenge, I'm on for the competition! :like:

My experience with the 4g Rangers is summed up as well built, reliable, and fun to drive. Let my 1999 go with about 120K and it was still strong! Traded the 2011 in with 40,632 miles for the 5g with heavy reluctance. I can seriously say that this is the best overall vehicle ever owned. I've owned almost every type of vehicle you can think of (American, European, Import) including 4 trucks now. No disappointment with the 5g so far and relived that is has worked so out well! In my mind, was thinking that if the 5g didn't make it, would ditch it and look for a low mileage 2011 Ranger Sport 4X4 and fix it up (last production year for the 4g's).

I spotted a 2004 Ranger XLT FX4 for sale. It has about 176k miles on it but seems to be in pretty good condition. I am thinking of buying it as a beat around truck to just do work on and drive out/offroad when I don't want to take my standard vehicle. Has anyone bought an older model? What are some things I should consider checking before buying? My 1990 Bronco finally stopped running.
Of course it depends on how well its been taken care of but, I have an 04 Ranger FX4 with 228,000 miles of her and she still runs darn good. In fact the only thing that doesn"t work is the switch for the power mirrors won't adjust one direction. I bought it in 2007 with 25,000 miles on it for $16k. Heck i even have the original window sticker for it when it was new, $22k. I got like three people that keep trying to buy it from me. Its taken out four deer and a mustang. lol A lady rear ended it going like 40 mph. The trailer hitch caught most of it. Damn near pushed the passenger front tire to the fire wall. Drove the ol girl home.

I see more old ones than 5Gs where I am.. for anyone interested in buying them still. Says something about them IMO. Those and the old 2.4 no-named Nissans like I had in high school. The rest of the tiny trucks are rare.
