Well, my saga begin after 4-painful months waiting for my Ranger to arrive problems began immediately. Got to the dealer and did the usual walk around looking for any damage issues that need to be documented. Found a few minor scratches needing buffed/polished out. No big issues and easily taken care of. Pass side mirror base was scuffed real bad and had a deep scratch so dealer will need to order a replacement. After the initial walk around (Note: I did not start the truck it had just been parked by the salesman he said all services complete and all owed work TSB's or notices were done) went inside to complete the painfully slow paperwork process. Completed all paperwork and headed outside to take my new truck home. Started it up and after about 5-minutes of fiddling with every noticed the check engine light did not go out. When back inside the dealer and asked what was up....they sent a tech over who did a quick scan and said it looked like a low voltage issue had been set in memory and needed to be flashed. After 10-minutes light when out so I headed back to work (10 miles). Drove it another 5-miles later in the day to get home for the night for a total of 15-miles. The follow morning hopped in the truck all excited and headed off to work. About 5-minutes into my drive the check engine light came back on. Bypassed work and drove directly to the Ford Dealer. They told me it was probably a battery cable issues so pulled into service. After about 30-minutes of waiting I asked for an update. They told me the battery system looked good, but looks like there was a "FUEL INJECTOR ISSUE"...I'd need to leave the truck so Techs could pull the intake and do more troubleshooting. Are F'ING kidding me? I told the service tech I want a history pulled on all the codes from the day the truck was first started after assembly. I want to know of the truck left the manufacture with a known issue or was this the first time the code popped up. Of course he said he could only see codes that weren't previously cleared by doing a PCM flash. I'm trying to remain positive at this point, but have two 2012 Ford Focus' sitting the drive that have been a complete nightmare to own. My primary driver was a 2012 Toyota Tacoma which a recently sold to him. How embarrassed do you think I was pulling into work with loaner from Ford while he was driving out in my previous Toyota! I called Ford Corporate and got an offshore answering service requested to have a US based Customer Service Rep call me...they have 24-hours to respond so will probably be Monday.

Disregard all the typos. Sold the Toyota to a friend of mine, many other grammatical errors. Was in hurry to get this out.

i could sense your anger.
I went through the goat rope with the 2012 Ford Focus' transmission clutch issues. I still have both cars because you can barely give them away. Both have been in the shop at least 20-times. Basically, once a quarter they go back to the dealer for the same related issues. I had hoped Ford got there act together since then. I have (had) a 2012 Toyota Tacoma 4X4 loaded with all the bells and whistles. I drove the Toyota everyday for 7-years and other than preventive maintenance nothing else done to it. Reason for selling was really the evolution of safety features and technology. Also, really wanted to give Ford another chance and thought the Ranger was (is) a real contender. I suspect these injector issues are known at manufacturing, probably getting the fails post assembly, and then flashing the PCM to clear before shipping to dealers. I also suspect dealers are flashing the PCM before buyers see the fail. I'd really like to know that for sure...so called Ford Corporate and waiting for a call back.

I posted my saga under the bad fuel injector thread. I all too well know your pain having lived through it. Here is the repair summary from the dealership. It was in the shop for 23 days. The delay was the Tube ASY part. Good luck to you, I made it through this mess, you can too.

I understand what Jata and Ric have experienced. I had an issue with the '90 Ford Probe GL with the Mazda 4 cyl engine. The engine design had a cam shaft imbalance that caused the car to vibrate when idling in gear. The LX trim level had the Taurus 6 cyl and no vibration. Went through the "lemon" process with Ford. An "independent inspector' was sent to look into my complaint. He first blamed it on that I was not used to driving a front wheel drive vehicle since I had traded my 4 cyl Mustang for the Probe. I blew that theory out of the water, when I replied that I had a Ford Escort (front wheel drive) before the Mustang. When we got to the dealership he introduced himself as a Ford rep and wanted them to pull in a 4 cyl Probe from the lot. They pulled in a used GL that was vibrating worse than mine. It was a known issue, but they ultimately did nothing about it. I traded it after 18 months of ownership for a Grand Prix. When I went to a truck, I chose a Dakota because it had a back seat rather than jump seats that I could put a child's car seat in the back. Returned to Ford when I wanted an SUV. I have not had any issues with either my '10 or '15 Escapes (both ordered new) or '06 Ranger (5 yr-old used).

Thanks for the information, it will help keep the dealer on their toes. I'm hoping this is just a hiccup in what will be an otherwise great truck!

I really do look forward to driving it for the next 20-years. If however, this is one of those "Ford Norms" as the dealer and Customer Relations always try's to feed us, I will be dumping it along with my Ford stock for a 2020 Toyota.

Ric 23-days to get your back-order parts? Is Ford giving you a day for day extension on your warranty?

I will be negotiating with them this week. I will share the results of those talks, as long as I don’t have to sign a nondisclosure agreement.

I think part of the problem with parts is because it is a new model and parts have not become widely distributed yet. I bet most parts are being used for assembly. That should improve as time goes on. One of the drawbacks of ordering a first year model.

Ric, hope they do something to compensate you.

If you can get them to do it I'd be pushing for a free lower mileage or highly discounted higher mileage Ford ESP plan. I've heard of them compensating people with an ESP in the past.

Nice to see some good customer service. Hopefully that is the last of your issues.
