Truck was HORRIBLE in snow! I used Trail Control going up steep snowy roads and it worked perfectly. I couldn't get it stuck, or even get it to lose grip, it was no fun at all!!!

I have found it to be very capable in the snow. The de-icer works, but does start building up ice on the passenger side.

Use the Snow setting on Terrain Management, it's comical how tame 10" of snow will become... I stopped on a grassy hill in 10" of powder and didn't spin a tire when starting out again. Same place I buried my jeep last year in 6" of snow.

May 22nd in the Black Hills of SD. I didn't know if I'd get to test out it's snow capability until next winter when I got it in April, but as you can see I did. It does very well and this is wet, heavy snow. It's the best vehicle I've ever driven in these conditions.

Although it might not make a huge difference if you get rid of that air spoiler below your bumper it does help in snow. One reason I went with the FX4 in snow country is that metal bash plate will slide over the snow better instead of pushing it. I had a leased ‘16 F150 before and the big bumper air spoiler acted like a snow plow on that thing.

Had our first snow last week. Icy local roads. First time I’ve had the Ranger on slippery roads. Fishtailed more than I expected. Used to the sure-footed Forester and Jeep Cherokee. But it was icy slick and I only had the Bridgestone Dueler A/T on. They call them all season but need winter tires. Did not try 4H. Was a wake up call. Had an F150 years ago but I need to sort out winter driving again in this truck.

Hmmmm, still waiting for our first real snow. I have real good snow tires on. We will see how it works.

We got our first snow about a month ago. It stuck around for quite awhile, but it warmed up pretty good last week for a few days. Then we got 8" of nice wet heavy stuff 2 nights ago, on top of the 2" of rain we saw the day before. So the roads are still not great.

As far as tires go. I've mentioned on other threads that the stock Hankooks are plenty good in the snow, but pretty bad in the ice, slush, and pretty much any other winter condition.

The truck has a whole is good in the snow. I've driven better (namely my previous Subaru Crosstrek), but it gets the job done without incident or too much complaining. haha

Here are some shots from our first big snow last Thanksgiving weekend. Got 30" over three days, in two different storms. Spent about 8 hrs clearing snow the next day. I didn't get any shots/video of the truck chugging down the driveway and busting through the hood deep plow bank at the end, though I should have in hindsight. I was too busy being upset I had to make a trip to the gas station for more snowblower gas in the first place. haha But truck did it just fine in 4H without issue.

Great photos, Matt! I am also a former Crosstrek owner. Man that little thing was insane in the snow. We'll probably always have a Subaru as a second vehicle. Two years ago, we got a real bad slushy 6" right around this time of year and the roads were just a complete nightmare. I took the back way home (unplowed!) and passed dozens of cars in the ditch or stuck on the smallest of hills. I smiled and gave it a little more gas and barely spun a tire. I had on Yoko Avid Ascend GT all-seasons as well. Not even winter tires!

I definitely do miss the Crosstrek. It was a great vehicle for me. But getting married, two dogs, and a house in "the country" meant it was no longer the most practical for our needs. So we traded in for the truck. The Subaru AWD system is one of the best, if not the best, and makes winter driving a breeze. I ended up putting some winter tires on mine the last few years I had it and that thing was an unstoppable tank in the snow and ice and slush after that. You'd be hard pressed to get it squirrelly, even if you tried. I wish the Ranger had the 4A mode, that would make winter driving a bit less nerve racking, but I've made do.
I, too, wish the Ranger had a 4A mode. Get ready for some hate in here. I read a different thread where people were going IN on those who wanted 4A. "Don't you know how to drive in the snow!?" Yeah, I do, but it'd sure be nice to have the option for the truck to do all the work and not have to worry about it being in 4H the entire drive home. My dad's '01 Silverado had 4A. How is it not standard on every 4x4?
