Today it rained so I got to test the waterproof capabilities of the Diamondback cover.

Other than some small amount of water coming through the tailgate gap, it was very dry underneath the cover. No leaks from the front of the cover either.

I didn't get a replacement locking rod that's @Randy2400h.

I also had locking rod issues, but I'm not going to bother fixing it. It's only a problem if the front opening is unlocked when you're driving, something I will not encounter 995 of the time.

I have the new cover now, but I haven’t had a chance to remove and replace it. I took off the safety catch entirely so the front left locking rod would function as designed. The a good section weatherstripping was also damaged by ABF freight during delivery so replacing the cover entirely was the best option.

To follow up on my previous post, I decided to check under the front cover after a major days long rainstorm.

It’s completely dry even without installing the stick on seal provided by Diamondback. Water did get in along the edge of the bed, but nothing went down inside.

I just ordered a 13' crossbin tool box from Real Truck. Diamondback wanted $299 + $100 for Fedex ground shipping.

Real Truck got it down to $294 + free shipping.

Got my tool box today. I didn’t realize until I filled it up that I put it in wrong. Make sure the holes are at the front, not back, so the lid can close.

I recently ordered and installed a Diamondback HD on my truck. I had reached out to diamondback before hand about the safety catch interfering with the locking rod issue many have reported.

They assured me it was corrected, but after installing my cover, I had the same problem several of you are experiencing. They're sending me a new cover (soon, hopefully). Apparently the issue is the rods under the center panel where the gas springs attach to are a bit too long, so it requires a new center panel (but I understand I'm getting a complete, new cover). I'm pretty frustrated to go through this, since I was told they had the problem straightened out. But, customer services is fixing it quickly.

If you're planning on getting a diamondback cover, I'd maybe hold off until they get this figured out with some certainty, unless you don't mind removing the safety catch or having to go through the complicated return and resinstallation process. Either way, it's a lot more hassle than should be necessary for a >$2k cover. After some back-and-forth, I was offered a discount for the inconvenience, so I can say their customer service really is doing their best.

Got mine installed! Works like a charm... I wasn't able to install my Thule Rack because I didn't realize I had to order "Feet".

I feel like the truck drives better with the 180 lbs on the back of it!

Once the shipment is unpacked, are the individual pieces easy to handle by one person? How big is the palet the shipment comes in? Will it fit onto the back of the 5' bed?

I was able to install myself, but in hindsight I would recommend 2 people do it.

It will fit in a 5' bed since it comes on a skinny pallet. However it weighs 180lbs with the pallet.
Got my Diamondback HD cover!

Perfect! Thanks for the reply. I'm planning on having it shipped to my day job's dock then have them put the pallet on my bed to take home:like:

Already testing the load capabilities of my HD cover. The LineX on it is tough as nails. Love it so far!

A solid head ache barrier might be good insurance for this kind of load:)

That photo was taken after I removed a heavy strap in the front limiting forward travel. The LineX on top also generates a lot of grip when the load is tied down to it. I’ve seen their headache racks, not a fan. All I need is a short lip not a full rack.
