non tow package ????

I think I read a post where they said to push the tow button while towing & this will change the tranny shift characteristics. Does every Ranger have this button or only tow equipped Rangers? Is the 7 wire plug for a brake controller? Does this come on non tow equipped Rangers? I believe it doesn't.
Please educate me.

The RV plug is for trailer battery charging, trailer brakes, back-up lights, and DOT lights.
The four plug has only DOT lights.
The RV plug is supplied only with the tow package.
Th four plug is supplied with or without the tow package.
Tow mode button is supplied with or without the tow package.
