I thought I should start a thread about what kinda mileage eveyoeve is getting.

Include the type of driving you do city/highway %, driving style, gas used, if your using the auto start/stop feature and aprox engine mileage.

So I'm on my third tank of gas and tgt mileage has been improving.

  • 70%/30% city/highway
  • Average
  • 87 oct
  • Start/stop: off
  • 600 miles
  • 4x4, FX4
Computer MPG 19.5
Manual calc MPG 20.5
•. 90/10 city/Hwy
• 19 mpg per computer and regular math.
•. Mostly normal - sometimes I get on the throttle
•. 87
•. Start stop on 98% of the time
•. 650 miles
•. Lariat 4x4 - not FX4

So an update. I'm now close to 3k miles, and it's averaging about 20mpg. Mostly city driving, but I just took a trip from LA to Vegas and back. Again about 20 mpg, but this is doing 80mph. If I drop it down to 70mph I'm getting about 25-26mpg...and get run over.
:(

I got 23mpg on the way home.:like:

So over all I would say the mpg rating is pretty spot on. I think it will increase more too with more milage.

I’ve had my ranger now since February 11th. At first I was averaging 18 mpg though the Fuelly app and now that I’m at 2,500 miles it’s been slightly increasing every fill up, the last 3 out of 4 fill ups I’m getting 20 mpg and still seems to be climbing.

So I have over 5000 miles on my truck (I got mine in mid Jan haha) I'm at about 21 mpg for the life of the truck. A few details:

XLT FX4 Stock

During the first 1000 miles, the engine was breaking in and it was VERY cold in Michigan, so I was struggling to get 18 mpg average each tank. Now that it's warmer, I'm averaging about 22-23 mpg per tank. Recently, I was on a two hour road trip, and I got 25 mpg at about 75 mph!

I've found that in 'normal' conditions (standard temps, normal right foot, non-excessive speeds), EcoBoost exceeds at the fuel economy. The moment it gets cold, has a big load, and/or heavy footed, the little engine loves to guzzle down fuel like no tomorrow. Nonetheless, during normal driving conditions, the EPA ratings are spot on!

I know it’s a short average, but I had to share. At several points in the trip to work this morning, the average was over 30.

Not bad on a rural drive from lapeer Michigan to Southfield Michigan.

I've noticed that MPG (according to the computer) varies WILDLY. I set one of the trip meters when I bought it and for a total of almost 900 miles, the average there is 21.3. That is mostly around town driving and/or country/2 lane, winding roads with lots of up and down. I'm pretty happy with that thus far, looking forward to seeing what happens when I pass 1000 miles.

Can anyone confirm that there is a "break in" tune for the first 1000 miles? It seems pretty remarkable that there are such vast improvements. Or do we attribute it to new engine, summer gas, etc.? Would be neat to know if Ford does in fact put that in there on new vehicles.
