Also, does 15K868 come with 13A576? On the truck now, it seems they are all one harness even through wire diagram shows them as two, and you can seemingly order 13A576.
As far as the 13A576 goes, I don't think you will need it but I won't know for sure until Monday.

I’m looking for an after market tow package. I know ford offers one, but anyone had one installed elsewhere?
there wont be for a lil bit due to ford not releasing the specs yet to aftermarket dealers.

Hitch installed. The only issue is the 4 pin to 7 pin adapter is back ordered.

Going to get mine done at the dealership soon but why did yours cost more? The trailer tow package from the factory is $495. When I bought the truck they were gonna cut a deal when they get the hitch in and they said it would be under the factory cost.

The list price for the hitch alone is $385 alone. I got a discount at $300.. The 7 pin adapter which in on a national backorder is more cost..

earsmccoy's post #46 in this thread shows the install instructions. Just look at the work involved.

Labor is 2 hours plus.
The only way I see the parts and install for $495 is if you're negotiating the tow pkg install with your purchase of the truck.

It looks like I missed the K in my post above, it's the "D" that I needed. Out of curiosity, will the 15K868 without the sensors work if you reuse the sensors from the current harness, or does that version not have all the "pig tails" for the sensors?

Also, does 15K868 come with 13A576? On the truck now, it seems they are all one harness even through wire diagram shows them as two, and you can seemingly order 13A576.
The "13A576" is only on Rangers that don't have a rear bumper, like utility beds. You shouldn't need the "13A576".

Installed the receiver hitch today. Instructions were fairly detailed and straight forward, a few minor inaccuracies in where clips go, but easy to figure out.

About the only thing I can advise on is being extra careful when removing the large plastic bumper piece. They tell you to use pliers on the side steps, but then suggest using a pry tool for the middle section. I broke every single plastic clip off the middle section. I used JB Weld $4 vs the Ford adhesive $50+ Gun and it worked just fine for the ball cover.

If I had to do it again, I would have ordered the $169 plastic bumper piece to avoid the glue and hassle of trying to carefully remove the installed piece. I may still order it and swap it out since I broke a few clips, though it appears to be holding strong without them and looks just fine.

About 2 hours total time, and I would say under an hour if you purchase the new bumper section and avoid the glue stage.

I am waiting on the wire harness, which can be swapped out without removing the bumper again. For now I have the 4 pin hanging under the bumper and can tow my light trailer.

That doesn’t sound fun. Picked mine up from the dealer today with plans to install this weekend.

Got it installed, took about two hours. Removal is the hard part. Now I had already marred the bumper and now have an excuse to replace the upper piece since I also broke several clips.

Now I need to find the 7 pin harness.

Congrats! Glad I wasn't the only one to break the clips :).

Good news is, I don't think you need to remove the bumper again to replace the plastic piece or to install the wire harness.

I can't find the harness yet, called almost every place that has it listed as stock and it's on back order. The sleeve is available and I got that installed as well.

What did you do with the existing 4 pin since the new bumper didn’t come with a spot to mount it? I just wrapped mine along the hitch tube for now.

Just a zip tie to the new bumper. It's good enough to be usable.

Back-ordered wiring harness, part number KB3Z-15K868-D, came in today. This is the harness that is needed to add the 7 pin plug that is located in the bumper. This part number is for Rangers with back up sensors.
