Has anyone noticed that callers report that they can’t hear you while on a call and connected to CarPlay?

YES!!! I was just about to post this.

I've gotten on several calls with different people. All of them say they can either "Barely hear me" or i "sound super far away".

I'm on an iPhone 6S, with my callers on both Android and iPhones. Tried tinkering with all the volume nobs on the car and my phone - still nothing.

I literally have to scream for people to hear me.

Anyone have any resolutions yet, or is the mic just super low on the truck?

This is my daily driver, and I'm concerned on taking work calls from my phone in fear that nobody will hear anything I say.

I opened a case with Ford Support today. Don’t have high hopes.

Perhaps obvious or even silly, but on my 2016 TC the volume control on the radio controls volume for the telephone and the voice controls... But only when they are active. If the radio is loud it doesn't affect the volume of the voice commands or the phone.
Try turning the volume up while in phone mode. Of course, the Synch 3 on my TC might be different from the new Ranger.

I hear ya. Similar to the phone commands- need to adjust the volume while a phone command is active (like a GPS direction).

I'll try hopping on a call and turning every knob to see if that changes anything. I'm not optimistic though. I messed with it quite a bit in my last call.

Good luck. The folks I have been chatting with are fixated on Bluetooth and not CarPlay.

My 2017 Explorer with Sync 3 operates as you explained. Funny story: the first road trip in the Explorer the navigation lady was screaming at me. I looked in every setting to find the volume control, nothing, owners manual, nothing. It was pure luck that I turned the volume dial just as she was screaming and problem solved. I have talked hands free in my Ranger quite a bit and I hear the person fine and they hear me fine. I haven't touched the volume dial yet but I bet it changes the volume the same way the navigation does?

I took it to a dealership and showed the issue to the in-car tech specialist who said they have not seen this issue before.

I will be scheduling it to be looked at soon.

Frustrating that I have to unplug the phone anytime I need to actual use the phone.

Similar with the Jeep. You have t adjust the volume when on a call. Don't know if this affects the microphone or not. One other thing I learned, if the volume on the phone is way down, it is hard to hear the person you are speaking to.

Is there a mic control
on the phone itself?

I have never seen an option to control the microphone on an iPhone. I have tried multiple phones and have the same issue. The same phones work fine with another vehicle CarPlay setup.

Just CarPlay. Strange thing is, built-in apps that use the microphone can hear me well (Siri, maps, music) but others don’t. Google maps, I need to raise my voice for it to hear.

Something that I just tried after digging around on the internet for a solutions. On the iPhone go to Settings ---- Accessibility. Scroll down to Phone Noise Cancellation and turn it off. I did a test of changing this setting and my family said it improved the quality. Haven't used it enough to know for sure but I am hopeful.
