I estimate my 2006 Tracker Grizzly 1860 to weigh about 2000 lbs.

The trailer doesn't have brakes and had no issues with the 2011 3.5 F-150. Bigger truck, bigger brakes, etc.

Manual states with the Ranger over 1500 lb trailer should have brakes.

Once I get 1000 miles on the truck I'll be able to test. Anybody tow a trailer this weight yet?

I did with my Tacoma. I would say it was quite evident when driving it I would be better off with brakes on the trailer. You could really feel that it took longer to stop. Especially if i had a few passengers and maybe some stuff in the bed. Also, the brakes on the Tacoma wore much more quickly than usual. I’m sure people do this with Uhaul trailers all the time which don’t have brakes though. There are also state laws that govern this and it varies. If I was in your shoes I’d hook it up and see what it’s like to slam on the brakes. If it stops fine I’d probably be comfortable towing it like that a few times a year.

Should be fine, heres my sled trailer, and with a 4 stroke sled in it its likely around the same weight. It also presents a 101" wide front end, so its kinda like towing a brick wall and I did a couple 600 mile trips and could barely tell it was back there. No brakes on trailer.

No, you will not require brakes. My empty enclosed trailer weighs 2200 lbs. If you watch it, no problems. I did add brakes for I’ll load it more, but towing the trailer empty, stopped fine. Good luck!
