I've seen numerous articles stating the 2.3L Ecoboost for the Ranger was to be manufactured at the Cleveland, OH engine plant, but viewing a YouTube review today, the reviewer showed the parts content decal and it clearly stated Country of Origin:

Engine-Mexico
Transmission-USA

Here is a link to the review:

at the 1:37 mark. Kind of disappointing.

This is the engine in my truck that I got on January 3rd.
Made in Cleveland Engine Plant. I worked there several times, so that makes me pretty happy.
Built Ford Tough.

Wonder what comes up if you scan that barcode.... :)

I tried but I guess it didn't have enough of the barcode to read it. Maybe someone else will have better luck.

I tried mine, it returns the engine code right under the 511 or 510. No biggie :)

I thought maybe it would take you to some super secret internal Ford technical site or something.

I forgot to report this earlier but...
As I was pulling all the stickers off the windows, I noticed this...

BUT! When I took a look at the engine, I found THIS!

So, unless there's a Cleveland, Mexico, the window sticker is wrong.

I thought all the 2.3L's were built in Valencia Spain? Maybe that's just the FoRS engines?

Per Wikipedia:

"In March 2015 Ford announced the official production start of the all-new twin-scroll 2.0-liter and 2.3-liter EcoBoost engines for North America at its Cleveland Engine Plant in Ohio"

We have video monitors in the plant where Joe Hinrichs answers questions that employees send him. He confirms that the engine is in fact produced in Mexico.

Makes no sense to me. Dearborn Engine Plant needs new work. The old 2.0 engine only provides enough volume for 3, sometimes 4 days a week. It sits just about equidistant between MAP and FRAP, which use the most of those engines. Of course, I never understood why they didn't move 5.0 production into the plant for the same reason.

"Engine assembled in Mexico" would be a more accurate description. The various components that make up the engine likely come from all over the globe. The pistons probably come from one supplier, the electronic components from another, the fuel system from another and on and on.

The same is true for the Ranger itself. It is assembled in Michigan but the components come from suppliers located in many different places with the engine coming from Mexico being one of them.
