I have progressive, and other than not being able to find the truck at all, and asking me how much it weighs, our rate doesn't seem bad for Michigan. I will ask the wife, but I think it was $390 for 6 months. They did ask me about lane keeping, auto collision avoidance, and airbags.

With State Farm I got a quote of $205 a month with my 98 Ranger and home owners insurance. I am happy with that. Considering where I live.

State Farm is one of the better insurers out there.
Both Progressive and Geico will put a used windshield in a 6 month old vehicle. You couldn't pay me enough to use them.

This reminded me to call my insurance agent for a quote on the change of vehicles. I am going from a 2005 F-150 Lariat 4X4 to an 2019 XLT 4X4 Ranger and my insurance is going to increase $184.00 every six months. I have been with Allstate for at least 30 years, it's time to get different quotes.

After I picked up my Lariat on 2/14, I went by my State Farm Insurance office to report the new purchase. Replacing my 2015 Colorado will increase cost by only $4/month. Can't gripe about that.

Good info. And, of course, in addition to already mentioned variables, there is the level of coverage. Is it bare minimum liability or higher coverage? How much is collision and comp deductible? Rental car coverage? Medical coverage level? Do they require you to run around and get 3 estimates, or do they have pre-approved repair shops that is basically drop it off and it's covered? So many variables that comparing costs from person to person or company to company is meaningless unless every one of the variables matches. And they won't.
Credit rating is another metric used by insurers to rate people. high credit risk = possible insurance fraud.

Low rates = minimum coverages. Many don't carry underinsured which is pretty high,

I traded in my Edge for the Ranger. I added a little new car bonus coverage and AAA sent me $50. I was pleasantly surprised. It doesn't make up for the cost to register vehicles in CA though. I still have a bad taste left over from the $575 it just cost me to register my F-150.

I pay $854 per year for the Ranger. I'm with MetLife and also have my homeowners and my wife's vehicle with them.

This is one of those threads that are pointless it depends on too many variables. Age,children, record, value, where you live and the list goes on and on and on. Thanks that's just my rant and I ain't wrong.

My insurance company always says most of the difference in insurance cost comes down to vehicle value. If you own something older that's depreciated it'll be cheaper to insure and something new will be more. Of course there are a few things that can increase the cost... Being under 25, being single (even at 42 as a single guy I pay a little more then a married guy), and of course if it's a high performance vehicle... Mustang, Camaro, Corvette, etc. Other then that vehicle value is the main factor in cost. If you're a crappy driver and have lots of claims that will cost you as well.

If only it worked that way. I'm 44, wife is 39. Both have an 800+ credit score. I haven't had a ticket since 2004. She hasn't had a ticket since 2003. She drives a 2018 Escape Titanium. I drive a 2016 Focus SE. Her vehicle stickered about 10k more than mine. My Focus costs $100 more every 6 months to insure.

I replaced a 2016 Subaru Forester with a 2019 ranger xlt fx4.. I use it to deliver pizzas .. I carry progressive commercial insurance .. I had to go stated value as the truck is so new they did not have value .. insurance went up 600 a year .. be advised if you Uber or Lyft or deliver pizzas without commercial insurance in most states you will get a nasty surprise .. read your policy !!! Often itā€™s soecifically excluded to do those things on regular insurance .. I knew someone sued by their own insurance company
