The Falkirk Wheel in Scotland is used to lift boats between two canals at different levels.

Yet here in Michigan they can't keep the roads from crumbling every year.

Our church had a EPIPHANY service last night which we attended with the mutts . This is a ELCA church if anyone cares. The ski hill seen in the background is Mount Ripley. When we had "normal" services, we commonly took the dogs with us for social time.

Another round of snowshoeing, a little closer to home, this weekend. Weird weather lately for us. Not too cold, still below freezing but well above normal. And it's been quite humid, so it's been foggy almost every day. Makes for beautiful ice/frost cover on everything though.

Dogs and I came across a hidden fire tower in the middle of the forest snowshoeing today. I'd heard rumour one existed back in this area and figured we'd go on the hunt this afternoon. Came up successful, which doesn't happen too often on these rumour searches/hunts. haha

Another bout of Boundary Waters snowshoeing today with my brother and Charlie. Chilly (+8F), windy, and snowy (~4" throughout the day) this time, so no slush to deal with. But plenty of thin ice and open water, though I chalk that up to the Kawishiwi River running through the lake we chose to explore. Either way, a fun day out in this winter wonderland!

Charlie and I waiting back as my brother chopped through the ice to see how thick it was, as a precaution. Ended up being only about 4" thick in most areas. Minimum considered for walking on.

Hi TBR17,

I was asked to get involved with Monster Trucks and even invited to the SilverDome in Michigan (when the Lions played there). After picking the dirt out of my nose...trying to stop my ears ringing etc... I folded my tent and went home...Turned it over to Ford Marketing if they wanted any part of this action...I had to draw the line....NFW! Marketing said they did okay with no more than Bob Chandler and Big Foot....

That's pretty cool. They are beasts designed to handle lots of HP and punishment. The pic of this one looks like more of a Redneck Yacht Club swamp runner down here in SW FL. That's the name of the place they go to play.
The company I work for has a facility in Auburn Hills. I had a chance to see the Silver Dome in a bad state of disrepair a few years before they took what was left of her down. Roof was all caved in.
