Halloween day at around 6:30 in the morning I was heading to Georgia with a trailer to go pick up a car. Not 20 minutes from home I hit a deer as I was going about 40 mph. Ended up doing almost $10K in damage. Had the repairs done by a Ford dealership and insurance covered it. The front grill, hood, bumper, bumper assembly, driver's side fender, driver's side headlight, turbo intercooler, and basically everything from the core support forward had to be replaced. Took a while to get fixed too since a lot of parts weren't available or in short supply due to COVID. Glad to have my truck back though. While I had a rental car, I also hit a deer with it as well. I think they're aiming for me. Deer everywhere this year!

And you hit one with the rental???!!
Damn deer. Daily occurrence around my parts too, unfortunately.
You make sure the deer paid for its mistakes?

Glad no PERSONS were hurt.

Good thing deer hits are covered under comp insurance so it doesn't affect rates. Though affects your total account payout, which isn't good. Such is life.

Bummer. How were the steaks ?
Didn't keep him, small buck with 1 spike, because I hit him right in the hind quarters and he was all busted up pretty bad.

Yeah, luckily no one was hurt and amazingly the airbags didn't deploy!

Yeah they get real stupid this time of year with the bucks chasing. When you need Bambi mode turned on. Luckily with COVID I haven't been driving at night much. Only good thing about it.

It's funny, but I've been driving since I was about 10 years old (grew up in the country on a farm so had to learn early), legally driving for 36 years and I've never hit a deer before. Ran over a few possums (or opossums if you want to be correct) in my life but this is my first deer. It's seems like this year there are significantly more deer out and on the roads. I see tons of dead deer on the sides of roads this year than I've ever seen before.

I have hit a bear, several skunks and a few coyotes and had some near misses with deer, but other than the bear, no damage. I have had to stop in the road for moose and elk, but they were not close calls.

Drive safe and hopefully another 36 years of deer free driving!

Along with the bear a moose or elk will definitely leave a mark.:crying:

Bummer. If it weren't for the intercooler, that would probably be driveable.

I hit one in central Oregon with my year old Subaru Impreza about 10 years ago. $9,100 in damage.

Glad you are ok.
