Telematics Control Unit (TCU) Location - "FordPass Connect Modem"

The Telematics Control Unit (TCU) is located behind the passenger seat glovebox.

Vehicle Wi-Fi Hotspot (if equipped)

The TCU provides the vehicle Wi-Fi access point.

The TCU communicates to the cellular network by two means. The primary connection is through the cable to the cellular antenna incorporated into the GPS/Satellite antenna. The secondary means is through the cable to the TCU antenna.

Does anyone want to remove the glovebox to see if they can see it?

Well, that answers some questions! The communications is thru WiFi and cellular (has to be GSM if they are referring to obtaining an account thru AT&T), with an antenna located somewhere above or behind the instrument cluster. It does not use the roof mounted antenna.

It actually uses the GPS antenna along side the dashboard antenna. It has dual antennas for redundancy.

Revival on this thread: I was under the dash/glovebox out and noticed my TCU (#4 in the diagram above) didn't utilize all the connectors on it (left of the red connector in this pic). Wonder what else there is?
