Black Exhaust Tips

Well, I spent some time looking for a decent tip to put on my new Ranger. Since I'm not a fan of chrome, I went with black....problem is, they're few and far between that will fit a 3" OD inlet size and aren't over 10" or so long (due to the bend of the stock exhaust). The one pictured below is ceramic coated, has a 3" inlet, 4" outlet and is 7" long--trim a little of the stock pipe and bolt it on. From Flowmaster P/N 15377B About $65.

When I had my 89 Probe GT, I had a pacesetter exhaust on it. Came with dual black tips with yellow accents around the tips. It was pretty slick on my black beauty.

I remember there were black exhaust tips on the accessory walls when the Ranger was being showcased. A pair of black exhaust tips beside some chrome tips, which were hung next to the “Ford Performance by Borla” Catback exhaust system. They might be part of the catback exhaust system but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them offered separately by Borla. The 3” inlet is a very odd size for a small truck. I’ve tried looking as well, it’s slim pickings.

Those "factory" Borlas tips may have resonators in them to quell some of the rasp, hence their length.

Did you have to cut back the stock exhaust to have the tip sit flush?

Indeed. Followed what others are saying and cut off about 4 inches.

Here is a black exhaust tip I got for about $25 on Amazon. It looks great but i probably would choose something with a slightly larger inside diameter because I had to cut back and notch the original pipe to get it to fit and it still took some pounding with a rubber hammer to seat it. Cut the exhaust pipe with a sawzall.
