I got a VIN number and build date!

I'd call or email him at least once a week. Unless you trust him to keep you in the loop.

Yes I talked to them the other day and they told me they wont know about a vin number until job 1 begins or afterwards and yes it was accepted on Sept 7th. They did order it as a custom retail order.They took a copy of my driver's license and my deposit and my email address. So I was wondering if your dealer told you directly or if it came by mail or email?

That would be how it normally works, but ford is trying something a bit different with the ranger.

I am in no hurry to find out so if I got to be patient then I will. I just wanted to be sure that the dealers were the ones telling the people who got their vins directly so I know who I will hear it from when it does happen.

My VIN is 3821, however I see no posted build date. Currently the tracking system shows:
Welcome!
Your 2019 Ranger LARIAT will be delivered in NaN days.
And the estimated delivery states Invalid Date.
Where are the build dates coming from?
