The lift will decrease gas mileage , but not that much...something else is wrong, do a hand calculation and see if its different.

Doc
THIS..... Always compare the indicated MPGs with HAND CALC. I dropped from 23mpg around town and 26MPG freeway to 19 and 23 before I calibrated and syncronized the hand calc with the trucks indicated MPG. My indication now matches my hand calcs. It's not pretty but it is accurate. I fill up every six weeks or so.

First fill up: 9.5 gallons on 150 miles (140 of those were mine) 15.8 MPG calculated vs the truck computer 14.3. The same truck computer registered today 26.3 MPG on a road trip from Dover NH, to Waterford, ME...82 miles of mixed 55 mph down to 40-45 mph secondary roads. Transmission in D and transfer case in 2H, set cruise to 60 on faster roads and 50 on slower roads.

XLT STX Supercab 4X4... 22- 24 mpg over 7,980 miles; 64 mile round trip commute week days, 5690 elevation average, rolling country, some 50+MPH stretches. 91 octane non-ethanol. Definitely spool the turbo once or twice a day, so I'm happy with MPG.

Second fill-up:
9.4 gallons
235 miles of mixed driving, mostly secondary (and very frost-heaved) roads, running between 45-65 mph with the autostart off, and some instances in 4H at about 40-45 mph in slushy snow. Computer registered a 25.4 mpg average (reset when filled tank) with a hand-calculated (well, fuelly) value of 25.0 mpg. When possible I engaged cruise control at speeds between 50-65 mph, but not much during the return trip due to weather. And that is with the truck registering 383 miles on the odometer. As a side note, during my first 150 miles, I was using mostly S mode and shifting manually (I miss my stick, you see?), mostly because I thought itmight help break things in by making the engine rev some...something wrong about putzing around town at 35-40 mph with the engine turning 1200 rpm like a V8

Your figures are like mine - and I notice you have a 2019 Honda Touring? Birds of a feather? My wife just bought a 2020 HRV Touring.

I lease a new Honda every three years for my wife. No down 375 a month. She wanted the nav so I have to have the touring. I don't drive it hardly ever. Maybe once every few months to make sure it's nothing wrong with it. As far as the m pg goes. I have almost calibrated everything just right. At my current setting actually, the truck is showing less than the hand calc. I recalibrated it when filling up. So far it looks like 21 around town and 24 on the highway.

Just curious, if you didn't change your commute or driving habits and only switched from cheap unleaded to mid or high grade unleaded, was there a noticeable increase in mpg that would make it worth the added cost?

I ran a tank of 91 an my mileage got worse but it was really cold. I'm half way through a tank of 89 an it's a lot warmer an I'm showing over 23 mpg this tank an my previous best was just over 21 an 19 was the norm.

If this engine is anything like it is in the Mustang or Focus, you should get a 10-30% increase in power output and efficiency when running 91 over 87. While 87 is the recommended in the manual, 91 was suggested for the optimum performance and efficiency.

You can find a note about this in the manual, page 141 (at least in V3):

Has anyone seen an increase in MPG after doing the first oil change? I did the service at a half tank and the dash reading 21.4 (pretty common for my mileage). After the change MPG had risen to 22.5 (above normal).

so, after a hair over 11k miles, i can report the following:

2wd SCrew
maybe 75%hwy
ive always run 87
start/stop mostly on
trip 2 (never reset) reads 24.6 AVG

ive seen as high as 33 just after a fill up and doing 50ish on back roads on the way home but this quickly drops as i put more miles on the tank and see the crap traffic that we get in DFW.

i get better mileage than my wifes mazda CX5 (21-22?) and my previous car (2007 Volvo s60) that used premium only (20-23?).

im definitely saving money on gas compared to the volvo. this is the most efficient vehicle ive ever owned.

After 5K miles, I am averaging 21.2 MPG. The past two months I have been driving from Bishop, CA to Mammoth Lakes, CA 2-4 times per week. Driving up, there's an elevation increase of about 3700 feet. I won't be making that drive as much anymore, so hopefully my average MPG will increase.
