I am considering buying Apex Ultra Light 215BRK. The travel trailer weight is 4363 lb the length is 25' 4" . If I understand correctly the truck gross weight is 12,500 lbs. the truck+Cargo+people+trailer has to be under 12,500. Like here your input. thanks

I was wondering if the length would be considered safe. I do plan on using a brake controller and sway bar. I am new to this process. thank you for your help

What is the GVWR of that trailer? Probably closer to 6000 lbs., which is still below the 7500 lb tow rating of the Ranger. Does that 4363 lbs of the trailer include the options, such as a/c maybe a generator? You need to be aware of the loaded trailer weight.

I am towing a Sportsmen 271 BHLE, it is listed as 31'3" @ 5,290 dry, so maybe 5,800lbs loaded, propane, bikes etc ( I don't fill my water until I get there). I have a Redarc brake controller and I use the E2 weight distribution with friction sway control. Tows like a champ. I am honestly blown away by how easily the truck pulls it and how steady it is. Watch some videos about how to set up your weight distribution correctly. It requires measurements of truck and trailer alone, hooked up with and without distribution. Don't assume the travel trailer dealer is setting it up properly. When I bought my trailer I still had my F-150 and that thing swayed terrible above 50 mph until I made adjustments. The Ranger feels just as stable as my F-150 did with both set up correctly. The 2.3 doesn't pull as effortlessly as the 2.7, but it really impresses me non the less.

Hi Bobby,

I in most instances refrain from commenting on posts such as this but hate to see folks head into the unknown. You have a couple key metrics. Trailer tow weight rating, but also important is the GCW, Gross Combined Weight which includes that loaded truck ready to tow with all the gear and the trailer stocked and loaded with all the stuff you need. You really need to take this combo to the local truck scales to be weighed. Weigh the whole truck/trailer. Then weigh the trailer by itself. You will clearly be able to tell if you have overloaded either the truck or the trailer per the Ford Owners Manual or the trailers specifications... If you exceed GCW, then you need to decide what to leave behind. While at the scales, if overweight, start dropping items off to the side and reweighing. You will get an exact answer on where you are. So many folks assume and then find their assumption was incorrect as they sit on the side of the road with dire results like bent trailer axles for example... Take away is to weigh and understand...do not guess.

Best,
