A lot of good info in this thread! My Lariat came with the 18" alloys, but when I looked through all 8 pages... so far I didn't see anyone running lager tires with the 18's. Unless I missed it.

I plan on keeping the stock wheels and going a litter bigger on the tires.... Just wondering what fits with the stock ford 18's.

Thanks in advance.

Believe this is the largest someone has fit 265/70R18, 32.6 inch tall.

I'm also about larger 18" tires on stock rims or otherwise.

Looking at the diagonal of different tire sizes to try and figure out impingement on crashbars when turned, 285/70/R17 is roughly the same diagonal as 275/70/R18 (~0.5" taller, ~0.4" narrower for the 18" and just under 35" diagonal for both). Definitely depends on the tire model/manufacturer as well as offset of course.

Has anyone gone with 275/70/R18 or tried it and had fit issues?

Well after running my setup for 2000 miles already, I figured I can post it as successful.

Level/Lift = SVC Collars (2" Level) (https://svcoffroad.com/collections/ford-ranger-suspension/products/2019-ford-ranger-leveling-collar)

Wheels = Icon Ranger Spec Compressions (2017858357BR) (http://iconvehicledynamics.com/shop/iconalloys-wheels/1354-compression-17-bronze-finish.html)

Wheel Spec - 17"x8.5" - 6x5.5 Bolt Pattern (Ranger) - 93.1mm Hub Bore (Ranger) - Backspace 5.75" - Offset 25mm. (Stock Ranger is 55mm)

Tires = Milestar Patagonia Mud Terrain (M/T) - 265/70/R17 - (32x10.5 equiv) - They weigh almost 60lb each. (Dueller HT 255/65/17s weigh 33lb each) (https://www.discounttiredirect.com/buy-tires/milestar-patagonia-m-t)

No cutting Bars No Rubbing at either lock. (Had to gently nudge one of the front crash bars forward with a hammer (Not bend, just slide it in the bolted slots), the other side was already forward enough to not rub.

The stance puts the top edge of the tread right at the wheel wells, the side-wall etc protrude.

All in all, I am happy.

Could you post a pic of your setup?

I've been in some semi rocky terrain and sandy terrain and haven't had any rubbing issues. You can see more pictures here.

Here is how the 255/80/17s look

Hi, now that you have had these for a while, still all good with no noticeable rubbing? Also how is the transmission with these taller tires, gearing still decent?

At full lock, I sometimes get some rub in reverse, but it is super minimal and not on the frame. I really do like the setup and the truck is great on long hauls as well as offroad. I've done a large part of the maze district in southern UT as well as some of the reasonable stuff from the back entrance to Arches. I feel like it crawls just fine and this will be my tire size for a long while.

The only thing that has been hard to swallow is the tire weight. It does dull out the truck a bit, but I'd rather not get stuck when I'm out in CA, NV or UT's wilderness :) The spare has the same tire and fits just fine in the stock location. There is a set of wheels from Method that would cut the weight difference and probably make the truck more peppy again, but I'm not sure I want to go aftermarket on wheels.

Hey guys new here. 2019 ford ranger xlt fx4. I recently put on the rough country 2.5 inch leveling kit and it sits great. I’m having a hard time getting a solid read on what tires I can run. I want to run the stock 17 inch sport wheels and I don’t want to run spacers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the RC 2.5" level kit and stock sport wheels with Nitto Ridge Grapplers 265/70/17 and have no rubbing issues and don't need spacers. Gas milage is still good I'm averaging 21 mpg's when I'm not running it hard and the ride is nice and quite too. If this is your daily driver and want a little more aggressive tire without killing you gas mileage and having to cut your crash bars these are the perfect size. I bought mine online here.

Yeah that is what I was leaning towards as far as tire size goes because I didn’t want to cut on a new truck. Your truck looks sweet with the ridge grapplers. I had them on my 150 and planned to run a set on the ranger. I think they look and ride amazing.
Thanks for your input

Where did you get the Ranger letters for your tailgate. With my truck being black I cant go with the black ones which seem to be the only ones I can find. I think it would look just as good on back as it does on white

I'm running a 275/65/17 on the sport wheels. No spacers required. There's about a 1/4" room between the widest part of the tire and the steering knuckle. These tires may not be as tall as you want to run, however there are guys here running 275/70/17's on the sport wheels without spacers. As far as I can tell, spacers aren't required on those wheels until you get to a 285 section width tire.

There are some pictures of my truck in the other tire thread...the no lift no spacers thread

I have read through this and the other max tire size thread and I am seeing conflicting sizes. I have a stock XLT 4x2 with stock 17" sport rims, I think that the 265/70/17 will fit without any modification what so ever. Can someone please confirm.
Thank you in advance.
