Well another pair came today overnighted. POS clips. They sent two and they both broke. I am going to highly recommend against Bakflip until the redesign. I’m not some idiot they knows not how to be careful.

That really sucks. I have a much older mx4, straight back edge, no problem with my clips. I wonder if they changed the design or material or both

They are going to overnight me out 4 this time. They were very nice again but really not happy. That’s a poor failure rate and wondering when in use randomly if they’ll be brittle and break. I’m going to use my heat gun to soften them up before installing the new ones. My buddy does 3D printing and hoping I can get him to take a stab at a better design.

I have only used it a handful of times, but I leave them clipped and have done a good amount of off roading and they've never popped off or cracked for me. That's partly why I think either material or design change. Lame

They sent out 4 sets! So kudos to them. My buddy is taking a pair to make 3D print too.

Hi Folks,

I have a MX4 Revolver...quite old late March order...What are these clips. My back edge of the side rails was and is unfinished...are these the same clips? Where do these clips go. If to finish the back side rail, I want them as this really was a negative along with all the aluminum shards in the pickup box after install...poor manufacturing quality... Overall I am happy with the MX4, but like so much aftermarket...leaves a few details undone.

On the flip up ones, these hold the rods to the mounting rails. The rods are used to keep the flip up fully open if so desired.

I had my wife try and install two of the 8 and she broke two as well. I bit the bullet and removed the c clamp despite instructions showing to snap it over. The end cap is a friction fit so it just slides on.

My buddy made some prototypes on his 3D printer. Hope to test soon.

If he can make some extras that are stronger please let us know. Would love some better clips. Thx

Will do! He’s using a softer material which we hope will be a lot less brittle.

Version one in test. The red one we tested first broke but is a different material. We snapped it on no problem but snapping the rod in caused it to break in three pieces. He made the rail part that is a little thicker. He has to offset the clip part due to the way the 3D printers need to print.

The white I believe is PETG. Will get details when we know it holds up. Weather-wise in Pennsylvania is perfect for testing temperature fluctuations. We’ve gone from 60’s to 20’s in short order in the last few weeks.

One thing he took notice of is that the prop rod comes up at an angle. He’s going to try a V2 that builds the angle in.

Good choice.
Agree on directions.
All 3 sets.

OP,
Mine was different.
What broke are the rod holders correct? On mine they are metal as I even bent them some to clear the sides. Maybe they tried plastic now.

Correct; not the pivot side but the ones the end that engages the top when tilted against can. They’re plastic.
