Got the truck back from the local Topper specialists. Had the two side slider windows changed to side “windoors”. Should be much more convenient for retrieving gear from the truck bed. Also had them replace the rear door seals and main seal on bed. As a bonus they cleaned up my messy wiring for done light and third brake light. Still have a middle slider for venting while camping.

That should be helpful. You know, it never occurred to me that sliders could be swapped out for windoors but it makes total sense that it would be a very straightforward change.

Did you have a local Ranch topper dealer do that for you?

First of all , wished it a happy seven year Rangerversary. It is easy to remember that it came home on tax day 2019.
Then Took it to the Ford dealer for "the works" along with cabin and air filters. That is in preparation for an upcoming trip to the beach🌴🌴

Thanks guys. Yes time sure does fly. This is the time I normally would start thinking about a new one. I normally keep one eight or ten years. While I was getting service I checked out the Ranger Raptor, F 150 Raptor, and Bronco Raptor in the showroom. Awesome vehicles, but I would not be likely to use their special capabilities. They also had two Mustang GTDs there. :) At this point in my life I am thinking my next vehicle will be a downsize. Maybe a Maverick or one of the new small tucks coming out soon.
On the other hand my other two cars are manual transmissions and my back issues are making driving them a little bit challenging. One solution occurred to me. Sell them both and buy a new Corvette. (they are all automatic now) I realize that is blasphemy coming from a dedicated Ford retiree, but it is still tempting and I am not getting any younger. Is a Vette a valid bucket list item? Ford really doesn't have anything comparable. Those GTD Mustangs start at about $335,000 and are not meant for my budget or for street use.

Thanks AZ, Recovery is slow, but recovery nonetheless. I think I have hit a plateau recently. The beach trip should help me get my mojo back.🌴🦞🍤 ⛱

I'm sure the beach trip will help a lot with your recovery and even if it doesn't it's still a good trip! Regarding the Vette it would be a great choice as the new ones are really sweet and I miss mine as it's a fun car. One thing I'd check out first is they're so low to the ground make sure you'll be comfortable getting in and out of one. You almost have to "fall into" the seat because of they're so low and it might be difficult with your back. I'd hate to see you buy it and not be able to enjoy it but I know someone who would enjoy it. And it'll be an automatic so she wont have trouble shifting this time. 😜

Replaced my DPFE sensor.

On the initial drive the transmission seems to shift better but time will tell.

Edit: After putting some miles on it, I can confirm that it does indeed drive better. I'm definitely going to be replacing this on a regular schedule as long as I have the truck.

The truck is 6.5 years old and 41k miles.

I was very surprised at how much moisture was in the sensor.

I replaced just the sensor and reused the existing hoses, replacing the crimp clamps with fuel injection clamps.

I swear I think Ford engineering teams gather round to see how each team can design their part to be inaccessible due to another part.

The spring clamps were a pain to get to.

Fortunately I have this handy dandy spring clamp tool kit for just such an occasion.

I ended up using the flexible cable set as the others always interfered with the firewall, a hose, a wiring loom, the gravitational tug of the moon, etc.

And this comes in mighty handy for working on a Ranger with a slight lift.

Now at least the next time it should be much quicker and easier.

Based on the amount of moisture that was in it, I think I'm going to make this a 30k maintenance item.

Entry/ exit is something to consider. My RS is pretty low. Like you said you just sink down in there. The Recaros get ahold of you and you're ready for some twisting roads. The roof on the Mach is low, I have to scrunch to get in. Fortunately it has the feature that moves the seat back for easier entry/exit. On the other hand you should see me getting in and out of the ranger. Leveled not lifted, but the running board sure is helpful right now.

The other thing to consider is getting out!

It's not to bad falling into the seat but sometimes trying to get out is even harder as you have no leverage. But I guess you could always "tuck and roll" out. lol Either way it'll be well looked after if it doesn't work out for you.:captain:

People would get a good laugh when an old geeser pulls up in a new Vette, crawls out , pulls himself to a standing position on the side of the car, and walks into Walmart. There is probably already a meme for that.

You see, this is the reason I’m hanging onto my SuperCab - easy storage and access for my walker when the time comes.

Always thinking ahead.
