I guess this is not for old men with shaking hands... The wet method make these tings as slippery as a piece of spaghetti in a pan of boiling water. TVD did say that in the directions.

I used Charcoal Grey on the tailgate and grill. Works on my truck. Now to find a set of Chrome bumpers...

Agreed. It took forever to do my tailgate. Taped it, measured it three or four times, taped the letters on, made adjustments, marked sticking points, re-taped, stood back (a lot) and then went through it all a couple of more times before actually sticking the letters. But, ain't it all worth it? Holding off on the grille and dash, for now. Nice job.

FWIW, it looks spectacular! Seriously, it looks really nice and has me thinking about ours. Stands out against the blue!

The easiest way to put these letters on or off the truck is to soak the letters with a little bit of dawn in water. The Dawn cleans the wax off the tailgate indented letters. Then just spray a lot of that solution where you going to put the letters Put your letter on it and slide it around until it fits the way you want it it'll last a long time being adjusted before it evaporates and the letters stick. The job (front and back) took me about 25 minutes using the wet technique.

Putting these on dry is a pain in the ass and I would never do it that way put it on the same way you would put on window tinting you'll be happy. use lots of water with a few drops of Dawn.

I used flat black reflective letters

OMG! You guys took the tailgate off and did the letter DRY?!...THAT'S GOTTA HURT:facepalm:

Should've put 4 drops of Dawn dish soap into a small spray bottle and wet both tailgate and decal...slide it around (with the tailgate still attached to the truck) until you're happy with it's position and dab excess liquid...after you're sure, use a small squeegee and done...

I used a wet method. It was like fighting to get a piece of spaghetti on a fork out of a pot. I followed the direction from TVD but these things move a lot even when you try to anchor one corner...

I don’t know how to feel about the tailgate letters.. they’re kinda big.. I don’t want to highlight them, I’d rather hide them lol

Way to tough for my old eyes - paid to have both the tailgate letters and the grill done. Used Ford's black chrome on tailgate and the charcoal vinyl on my Metallic. We have a graphics guy in our little town the does whole vehicle wraps and all kinds of similar, does great and meticulous work. The black chrome looks different from different angles and different light. The grill pic half done shows just how "washed out" the chrome looks plain. Other pic is a heavy vinyl sill protector I had the guy make from scratch on a carbon fiber print.

Agreed... I wish they were gone.

But then again that's kind of like the Raptor grilles.... and the huge Ford oval on the grill. Less... is more.
Small badges, OK. 4 foot wide names.. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

Speaking of letters does anyone know what the letters "stX" stands for?
S port T ruck... the "X" is a Ford thing.

Just like the FX-4....

I did the same thing as you. I have a blue Ranger with the sport appearance package. I got the same letters from TVD. But, after screwing up the first set, I took them to a local professional. He has a technique that works wonders. Instead of water, he uses two different water/soap solutions to lay the vinyl out. He had it done in about 30 minutes. Charged me $30. It was worth every penny. Didn't have to take the tailgate off, either.

My advice to anyone considering this; have someone do it for you, if possible. Not worth the headache if you're not skilled in this area.
