Good video not sure if it has been posted before. I was bored, and seen this surfing YouTube. All just common sense, but sometimes people (myself included) get lazy, or are in a hurry.

Just about everything he said we've discussed here some ad nauseam. Like changing the oil earlier and letting the truck warm up when it's really cold. Still a good informative video and well worth watching and taking note of these things. IIRC there's only been a couple failed turbos that we've seen here but many here are way more informed than most drivers out there.

Here's the Cliff Notes version on what to do in case some don't want to watch the video. lol

Lots of good and accurate information if you listen to it. But also a lot of strange unrelated and confusing imagery. Seems AI ish. Especially when they mention the Ford F one hundred and fifty.

Seems like a lot of these Youtube guys are using AI now to scrub the internet to put out videos now. There's so many mistakes in AI and personally I hate it and will never use it intentionally. It just makes people lazier because instead of actually researching things they're relying on it to do the work of them.

Yes, probably AI generated but better than most of the videos out there. A lot of truth and good info in the video just easier for the producer to use AI. Before AI it could take a week or 2 now it can be done in hours.

Sorry to rehash old info, but I think it is worth repeating same as reminding people to change transmission fluid at around 30k intervals with filter every other change. Nothing more important fo maintaining a vehicle then regularly changing all fluids.

It is worth repeating because we always have new members joining and haven't seen our older posts/threads. What I meant by my ad nauseam comment was mostly towards the oil changes. I think that's one that's been brought up often and there's always a "discussion" on who's right and who's wrong and what the best oil is. haha

I've always been a firm believer that sooner is better and always change mine at or before 5,000 miles. Many will go the recommended 10,000 and some in between but I feel it's cheap insurance to do it every 5,000 miles especially if you're towing or live in a high heat area.

I've always followed the "severe service" schedules for my cars. If you read the fine print in most service schedules most cars actually warrant it in some ways in any case. Has always worked for me!

This is good info. I knew nothing of turbos my first Ranger. Rode hard put away wet, cold starting indie 500, 10k oil changes. I had no problems after 40k miles, but i bet they were coming. Only because of this forum i have changed my evil ways.
So yeah, good info. I do t do this stuff anymore and better educated on how to care for a turbo engine. Definitely not like a 4 barrel carb 351m engine from 1980. Lol

Cars need love, and attention just like people. Take care of it, and it will take care of you!

I thought i was taking care of it. But turbos are a different animal. Just a little extra steps and it can be cared for just as well as a naturally aspirated engine. But basically, i just take care of the turbo.
I was very skeptical on this truck. My wife suggested it way back in 2020. I said no way its a ranger. Boy was i wrong. Now i can say what my next truck will be. F350. Otherwise, its this ranger.

My old Rx7 had a Turbo Timer.

The turbos were water cooled but if running hard the oil could still coke around the bearings if you just shut it off.

I had 3 different settings programmed in:

1: Normal = idling the engine for 30 seconds after shutoff

2: Mild = 1 minute

3: Been Having Fun: 2 minutes idling before shutdown.

Freaked some folks out to see me walk away with the car still running.

It would shut off immediately if you ever released the parking brake.

Ah, good times.

What i do is turn the remote start on and walk away now. Only if i drive hard. The truck turns off after 10 minutes. Thats how i have it set up.
