Ok, I was thinking I’d roll the dice on getting a replacement ACM off eBay, but it sounds like it might be worth getting a scanner in case it’s just a fault that needs cleared. Appreciate your input.
As a last resort, you could remove the parts in the dash that got the coffee spill in them and rinse them in water (disconnected of course). Water will dissolve coffee and other sticky residue from the electronics. Alcohol and solvents don't work on dried coffee or soda spills. I worked in radio repair for Motorola for many years and this worked most of the time. Make sure the parts are completely dried before re-installing. use moderate heat to dry it out.

Bob,

What are your thoughts on using electronic contact cleaner? The aerosol kind.

There is something you can try - Leave the FCIM Disconnected, then turn the key to (Run) - does the ACM Power Up?
Keep In mind that today's systems use - Can Bus Data (To Wake) Modules
FCIM = HS-Can
ACM = HS-Can 3

So, both modules are looking for - Ignition Switch Position (Run) or ISP-R on the can bus, to enable them from sleep to wake.
The (Old School) testing for these modules - Jump Power and see if they power up - no longer works unless you have the tooling to do it - and can bus simulator or whatever they can it - to transmit a (message) on the can bus wires.
Yes, they are always powered - but the internal logic without the (Ign Switch Message) they shut down and go to sleep - until they see the (Message Again) and wake.

So, if the FCIM is reporting an error - it may block the (Wake) signal to the ACM, so most likely the (shorted) sticking buttons.
or
The ACM itself is preventing the Power-Up (Hard-Coded)
The above (Disconnect) the FCIM - just may be a way to isolate is the FCIM blocking to (Wake) or is it internal to the (ACM) itself - so just a small T-Shoot step without a scan tool for isolation.
