What do you NEED TO DO to your Ranger?

Need to take it back to the dealer for a new issue!

I know there is a recall around this but if it’s intermittent will they still fix it for free?

We got a letter for the wife's '15 Explorer Sport to have the camera fixed/ replaced. Parts won't be available until the new year. The dealer will call when the parts are available. My Ford Pass app alerted me to a recall on the block heaters possibly leaking and causing a short and fire. Parts again available in 2026.

Thanks for letting me know, I’ll check out the app and see if it says anything. If not doesn’t sound like it will be able to be fixed until after the new year anyways. I saw I think your post or someone’s about block heaters. That’s about as bad as the takata airbags but for people who live in very cold climates.

This year:

• Replace DPFE sensor
• Spark Plug swap out at 75K
• Tonneau hard-cover install
• Tailgate lettering
• Fitz stick install and Lubegard Platinum addition
• MAP sensor cleaning / eventual replacement
• Throttle body replacement (cracked sensor housing)
• Radar Renegade A/T Pro tires (replacing Patriot R/T Pro after ~45K)
• Front & rear differential and transfer case fluid replacement
• Rear Suspension overhaul (Icon—leafs, bump stops, and shocks)
• Cabin & engine air filters (WIX)
• Front differential drop (1” Peak) to relieve rough CV angles
• Replace 4x4 skid plate since last one was beat all to hell
• Install Tom Woods one-piece driveshaft because center bearing was wearing out on the stock driveshaft. Of all the upgrades I’ve done this year, this one was the most beneficial
• Install 3 degree shims to improve pinion angle at rear axle
• Rust repair / rust proof underside

And for what I couldn’t do myself, got dealership support to fix long term issues that were more thorns in the side than show-stoppers. Got the truck back today and paid my bill:

• P0068 DTC that shows up only in cold weather—turned out to be caused by a very small tear in the outlet tube feeding into the throttle body
• Haven’t had cruise control for 3 years, not affected my daily life until I drove across country so finally decided to address it. Bad splice in the wiring was allowing water intrusion and causing corrosion of the wires leading into the CCM, module was not powered.

$2,200 later and my two long term issues have vanished

I kind of had a dose of reality earlier this year and realized that I love this truck and have no desire to get back into the market. Hit 70K and decided to treat it as a pivot point to course correct and get this truck to 200K+. I’ve learned a ton—victories and setbacks—but as of today, my truck has better handling, better performance, better mpg, and is safer than the day I got it 5 years ago. This forum has had a huge part in that for sure

I’m gonna go with…
- Changing the front and rear differential gears..
- Install the PPE pan and Diff cover‍..
-intercooler pipes..(and intercooler but the pipes seem to be more important)
-I still haven’t picked up the Roush exhaust I want to install.
-roush intake.
-adjust the computer to know I have larger tires.
-trans fluid and filter.. (that is happening right after thanksgiving though.. likely when the pan will go in.).

also need to 303

• Shifting to 75 / 140 gear oil in axles
• Changing brake fluid and Anti Freeze

Make another run to Lone Star Conversions.
Order
Ford PERFORMANCE Ranger grill
4 off road lights-2 in the bumper and 2 ditch lights installed by Lone Star Conversions, because I am not good at electrical stuff
Later after that is done, go back up there and order a set of Bilstein 5100 shocks and have them installed.
And call it good.
Maybe........

List and the build are just about wrapped up, it's at Lone Star Conversions getting the Bilstein 5100s installed, followed up with a front end alignment.
