Since our last trip towing, my wife has been after me to look for a larger/roomier tow vehicle. She loves the Ranger but just wants more room up front.
Looked at numerous Fords (has to be a Ford) that were in the price range of what was offered for the Ranger.....$28 grand. Hard to find a later model F-150 extended cab at a good price.
Local dealer had a 2019 Expedition XLT come in with all the right equipment for towing 9300 lbs. It is high mileage...112,000 but clean all around with a lot of very recent maintaince done...all fluids, total brake and new tires.
So, we bought it...got a good deal for cash, and will make more back on the Ranger sale
I will be stripping any mods I did on the Ranger and will have stuff for sale in the next week or so.
Now I gotta see if the Expedition Forum is any fun !!!! I will still be around....

Gramps, Hate to see you go! It a nice looking Expedition, but trading away a Iconic Silver Ranger is tough! Will the Expedition fit in the garage?

Enjoy your travels...

Yup....3.5 twin turbo, 10 speed auto, 4x4 with 2 speed case, 3.73 limited slip axle, FX4 package with high end other packages.
Still tight as a new vehicle
That's quite an option package.

Just slap that RANGER lettering on the back tailgate. No one will notice the difference. Call it a "Ranger with an Expedition package"

Think XL, XLT, Lariat, Expedition:rockon:

I will hang here.....if some Ex Ranger owners who now own them there Furrin Trucks can stay, than my Expidanger should be welcome !!!!
Heck yea, you should stay around. That Expy is all in the Ford family. A good Kentucky built truck. May it serve you well.

I had one on a two year lease in 1999. Pulled a horse trailer a few times, no sweat at all. It was an excellent vehicle. Of course my opinion may be biased since i retired from the plant where they (Expeditions, Navigators and Super Duty) are built. Mine was built in Michigan at the plant that is now the Ranger and Bronco plant. Expy's were transferred to KTP in 2008.

Great find but parking won’t be the same. I get the urge to upsize but California gas prices leaves me wanting. As a new ham radio nerd I see you definitely have a lot more room for antennas.

Enjoy the new to you beast!!

10000% preferred driving the Ranger over the F150, just liked the smaller truck more.

Buyers remorse of simply pointing out one instance where the Ranger is better fitted to you.

Maybe Ford needs a Ranger Hybrid version of the F150. Get the best of both worlds. After all the SCab Ranger is pretty close to the size of a small bed F150 15-20 years ago.

If they would quit dicking around and bring the PHEV Ranger to the US I'd buy one.

The Ranger was just easier to park, easier to maneuver. The F150 is nice, and I like it a lot, drives nice, comfy, etc etc. The Ranger feels like a sports car comparatively.

No buyers remorse. The F150 is a beast.

Crazy as it sounds.....yes it does fit in the garage. Turns out the Ranger and the Expidition are 210 inches long.....the same. Much wider. but it fits along with the wife's Subi

She's going to want the Ranger back after your first trip and she sees the gas mileage.
Ya know, I truly don't think there's going to be much difference in mpg while towing.....in fact, I may get a bit more with the Expi.....
Towing 7000 lb travel trailer, the Ranger is capable, but does suck gas...I get maybe 10 mpg.
Expi has bigger engine/100 more hp, so towing may be "easier" on the Expi, rated for 9300 lbs.
23 gallon tank possibly means less frequent fuel stops.
Either way, dosen't bother me as I am not one to worry about mpg.....
And, wife has already been in the Expi and loves the extra room on the passenger side. As much as I loved the Ranger, but it was her call, and honestly, at my age now the extra room really is more comfortable.
Plenty of space for the pup's and can fit a ton of "stuff" on back floor behind front seats that we used to cram in the Ranger......plenty of cargo room for camping stuff in back....

Back when I was towing with my 92 F250 460ci, I would get 10 mpg towing or not. Others where getting 7 or 8 maybe towing. Getting 10 I felt like the winner. :like:

In them "olde" days, we had a 1989 Ford F-350 Dually with the 460...towed a 30 foot travel trailer and a 32 foot 5th wheel.....same, 10 mpg.
