I am a widower and don't cook (if the microwave died, I'd starve to death) so I will be going to my Daughter's home for Christmas day. (Hopefully, I might be on the road returning from picking up my new 2025 Jeep Rubicon from Southern California. A couple of days ago, it was reported to be on a train in Ohio heading west.
That's great Kent. I know you were expecting it to come around 1/4/25 so that would be a great Christmas present to yourself!

Candlelight service with daughter's family at their church on 24th. Exchanging gifts at home on 25th. Doing two prime ribs for family for lunch. Bringing 95 year old mom from nursing home and wheelchair- bound mother-in-law over for lunch and to visit. Not the same as when my girls were little.
Still…it sounds wonderful.:)

I'm 63, never married. So, no kids. Extended family is either dead or ignores me for one reason or another. So, it will my house mate the cat and maybe my younger brother. I'll spend the day cooking. Turkey, sausage stuffing, homemade cranberry sauce (yes, I make homemade) corn, mashed turnups, mashed potatoes, gravy. All for 2-3 people.
Sounds delicious! We have a small family too. No matter…a man (or woman) gotta eat anyway. Might as well be delicious.:)

My brother is visiting the east coast & my sister is visiting the west coast. So our gathering will be tiny this year. Still… we gotta eat!? So, I will cook a wonderful meal and enjoy my tiny nuclear family while celebrating the birth of my Lord Jesus Christ.

I have eaten turnips my whole life & never had them mashed. Anything special you do to them that you can share?
You know turnips are first cousins to green peppers, right?

Hmmm….well, they are green. Also, you will be pleased to know that my bell pepper plants are still producing. That’s because most of this time temps have been in 70’s & 80’s with a couple days in 50’s. I love living in Alabama!? (keep looking for that air drop. Maybe I could enlist the mysterious drones flying around.;))

Being an ex navy cook, I will be glued to the kitchen as usual. It doesn't seem to matter if it is at home or elsewhere. Mind you with the lack of skill or talent with some of my family members maybe it is for the best lol.
