No serious issues so far and very happy with the Ranger. Switched from blended to full synthetic on the 3rd oil change and will continue with the full. Meticulous about maintenance and service so expecting this to help with longevity. Also have a Ford ESP.

Fortunately have a dealer that is 2nd to none. They are totally customer oriented and demonstrate unusual integrity. Examples:
(1) I went in for a service last year and had 3 discounts to apply (military, service dept. coupon & a dealer special). They accidently forgot to apply one of the discounts on the invoice. I was not upset at all but just called in to check on it and they were very apologetic about missing it and immediately refunded my total responsibility after these discounts which was about $59.00.
(2) The Asst. Service Mgr. was very honest and open about the same transmission problems their customers were bringing in with the Rangers and F-150s that the owners on this site have reported. I was assured they were aware of these issues and would cover me if this ever occurred with my truck.
(3) I can always get a loaner if needed when I come in for service.

Con: Disappointed with the mpg...was hoping this would be somewhat better.

I'm old too. I remember being late for work waiting for gas for 2 hours in 1979 in my 1973 Ford Broncos on 32 inch tires that got 8 mpg.
I go back to when lowering everything was like, Endsville, Daddio!

58k, tried to keep the oil changes closer to 5k, ran the Oil Life estimate gauge down once and the oil didn't look much different.

I actually really like having the filter next to the wheel, makes changes very easy when combined with a valve style drain plug and tubing.

Time to do the trans fluid and spark plugs. Been towing a lot more this year.

all the consumer reports/automotive journalist people who questioned the ranger's reliability are probably pissy about this post lol.

great to see tho. if my truck makes it to that mileage i'll be nearing retirement.

I’m the second owner . I have the records and mileage of every oil change from day one ..it was religiously done by the first owner.
I’m totally ok and am expecting to do the engine or trans some day…it’s worth it for what I paid. It’s got a couple glitches that don’t really bother me much,, like a slight surge when cruising slow in the 50 to 65 kph range.

I’ll be towing with it close to its max rating..that’ll test the old trans out. A full weight GM A body and a Skid steer..both on steel trailers.

one question for you guys…where can I get a paper owners manual? did they even come in the glove box when new? I’m not doing the online pdf thing

Has the transmission ever been serviced? Previous owner sure drove a lot.

I ride the bike everywhere I possibly can so that keeps the mileage lower on the truck.
