I emailed Torrie at Unleashed this morning (Saturday) with a question, completely prepared to wait until Monday/Tuesday for a response and he emailed me back in LESS THAN five minutes. We had a couple emails back and forth about my concerns (with what I am looking for) and I realized this should work really good for me.

My order has been placed, and he even emailed to tell me he would be shipping it out today. Damn, that's good customer service. I will update on the difference between the FP tune and Unleashed once I get it installed.

I am going to do some looking. I run premium right now. I wouldn't be opposed to running 85, if he can tune it good for that. The problem is this: at altitude, we have 85, 87, 91. At sea level, they have 87, 89, 93 (actually not sure the octane rating of premium at sea level). When tuned for low grade, they say 87 and no one will commit to 85 at altitude being okay. And mid grade is just 80/20 blend of low/high grade.

There's no 93 or 92 here in kommiefornia. 92 went seat decades ago. I bought a 2 tune deal from him and tune for 87 and 91. Just a word of warning when you try to calibrate for tires and gears, you can get speedo dead on but it will generate a U0422 code. We've tried everything including doing the adjustments with Forscan. There's no way to get it accurate and not pop that code. It doesn't do anything other than see that code any time you read codes.

I have the U0422 code and have for 45,000 of the 50,000 miles on my truck. Tire size changes were made via Forscan years ago. ha! I am going to go with the 91 tune with the Torqurules shift schedule.

Most people don't know about U0422. You already do then your good. There's just no way around that one whether you make the change in forscan or the tuner.

What's this code all about? Inquiring minds want to know

Basically, it gives a body control module code about something being different. Which makes sense, since... you know... we made changes. There is no check engine light and no issues. When you return the truck to stock settings in Forscan and/or the tuner, the code goes away.

The exact error wrding is "invalid data received from body control module".

That already answered my next question, does it set a CEL

Some little code gremlin.

I try to pay attention to stuff like this, always good to learn from others. Helps plan the upgrade path too.

I read quite a while back that basically the BCM only sees certain values as "correct", so if you don't happen to use one of the "correct" values, it will throw the U0422 code. I remember seeing an F-150 spreadsheet that someone had figured out a few "good" values for.

I've never worried about it myself.

I have the Unleashed tune from Torrie and love it. I have been running the highest octane I can find normally depending on the circumstances. It probably doesn't matter as long as it's above 90 octane but I don't know if that's a fact or not??

You will love the torquerules tune, I know because he just got me two weeks ago ? I got 93 performance and 93 tow (on east coast). I was daily driving the 93 performance but switched to pull the boat the other day and after driving without the boat back to house on the tow tune, I prefer it over the performance tune for daily. I highly doubt you will regret your decision!

I changed tire size with my Livernois tuner and didn't get a code.
