41K, build date 11/2019 - purchased new 2/20 - always use the dealer - fortunate they are honest and reliable, full syn every 5K, only run 93 Shell, no real issues, 1 battery replaced under vehicle warranty, Ford ESP 7yr/84K had to use it to replace some modules which prevented using sound system at 38K - would have been $600 w/o ESP. No complaints - steady as she goes Mr. Sulu...

I certainly will not enter the high mileage contest, but I have 21,563 miles on my 2019 XLT 4X4. I change my own oil and filter at 7,500 mile intervals using Motorcraft semi synthetic oil and filter. I just had the dealer change out all the fluids after they performed the TSB 24-2101 on the transmission. So I basically have a like new truck to drive for the next few years.

What year was your Edge? I ask because my wife's '19 Edge is in for transmission work.
Mine was a 2012, is your wife’s a 6sp ? I bought it in 2014 with 34k it was a lease return. I had zero issues with the car until the compressor killed itself. Sorry to hear about your wife’s car. I like Fords but trannys are a weak spot. Other companies have issues too, not just Ford.

only one oil change with Amsoil but I changed the filter at 25k
It actually physically hurt a little when I read that....

Taking my coffee out to the garage to talk to my truck now.

FYI, you don't have to remove the tire - just turn the wheels to the right......
I don't even turn the wheel. After the initial "learning curve" change I really don't even find it to be a problem

You do if you have to get in there and loosen a dealer tightened filter
Filter socket (?) and a long extension on a rachet makes it a piece of cake. Only had an issue with the factory installed filter. That bad boy did NOT want to come off. Luckily I'd already bought the socket to fit the Ranger filter. After that first oil change all have been my filter installs so no overtightened issues.

I had this happen once a long time ago on my first new car. I could not get that darn filter off for the life of me and when using the filter wrench it tore it open. I had to peel it back like an onion and take a hammer and screwdriver and tap it off from the drain holes. Now I drive so little and only change the oil once (maybe twice) a year I just let the dealer do them. I had a great shop back in AZ and now have to (hopefully) find one here.

Yep. I've had that happen too. Long time ago. Though at this point I cannot remember what vehicle it was.

Must say, I don't think that I'll ever be able to stop doing the oil changes myself. I just really like knowing such a critical maintaince item is done like I want it done. But then again ask me about it when I'm 85 or so....

I have always changed my oil, Im rather anal about it. Now though Im 66, I do not consider this old, but I've 8 spinal surgeries, all disc related, 4 cervical and 4 lumbar. It has become hard to do just oil changes. I use to prefilled my filter, if the filter was horizontal I would hold the gas pedal to the floor so the engine will only crank. This primes the engine. I use a dealer now for my oil changes, this bugs me because I know they just fill and start. They also rotates tires and check all fluid levels. I miss changing my own oil.

It rough that these newer vehicles are not like the old days...
Engine done, swoop it out, Trans done swoop her out.
And we're talking hundred not thousands with relative availablity.

Now a days I'm not sure you could even locate a new engine or transmission
for a Ranger regardless of price. Used, reconditioned????
I like to think there would be a way to hold on to my Ranger for the long haul.

I guess if worst comes to worst...just buy an older Ford Pickup

Is this a 72 High Boy? Awesome truck, rare these days. 360?

Approaching 53k. Daily driver. Nary a problem except the damn rear window defrost coming off.
I really don't know if I want to service the transmission, as someone else already said, don't want to jinx it. If I put money into it and it dies anyway, it's just wasted money. If needs work at some point, it will get serviced anyway.
I serviced my trans around 58K ish, 65K now. Tranny had been acting weird. I have my local dealer do my service now, use to do my own cannot anymore. Anyway dealer recommended a flush!! Not something you really should do, BUT it would be on the books and I have a 125K esp. 350 for the flush as opposed to 800 for a filter and fluid change. They also have to replace the pan, crazy ridiculous price. So I just did the flush. Long story, sorry. The flush fixed the weird issues! Moral of this stupid story.....service your trans. I don't plan on keeping this truck much over 100K, will be getting another Ranger with 4WD, or a Tremor Maverick. Im semi retired and looking at my next buy to be my last.

Just wondering how many miles you guys are racking up on your Rangers engine?
I've got a 2020 XLT with 118215 on it. Just oil changes , tires and alignment. Getting ready to do the brakes , I bought Motorcraft rotors and pads almost a year ago finally about to use them.

I have a 2022 Lariat SCREW. Just hit 50K miles at almost exactly 2 years.

I work from home mostly but still average about 25K a year due to single moms, OBX trips and softball tournaments!

I had a PITA electrical issue when I first bought it (new) which was a nightmare and took months to resolve. As a courtesy, Ford extended my warranty to 75k miles.
I've had the TSB procedures (valve body + CDF replacement) performed to the transmission in the last 15k miles. Some noticeable improvement after each procedure, but trans still wasn't 100%.
Just had the DPFE assembly replaced a few days ago.
So far so good, it feels noticeably stronger after the DPFE....that definitely was the cause of a lot of hesitation. I guess I had both issues (DPFE+transmission) going on at the same time.

I'm HOPING that now, at 50K, the truck is finally operating as designed. I don't think it's ever been "right" in the 25 months I've owned it....I LOVE the truck in every other regard, so I suppose that's driving my optimism.

Oil changes through the dealer....about every 6k miles. 93 gas only. I had the diff fluid changed around 30k miles. Trans fluid was done with TSB's recently. I've recently begun to hear some creaking in the rear....shocks or springs I guess? I asked the tech to investigate at my recent oil change/DPFE replacement and they never mentioned it after. I've been getting 24-27 mpg this summer. MPG definitely improved over time. I'm still on the original Hankook tires, which still have plenty of life. I'm guessing they'll get me at least another 15k.

I'm going to drive it for a few weeks after the DPFE and if content, I'm going for a Ford tune at the next service. It sounds like the tunes improve the shifting tremendously. When I get my next set of tires, I'm going up to 265/65/18 (from 265/60/18) and adding Eibachs front and back. Maybe take an inch out of the rake, but probably not any more. I'm a MPG nerd.

For you guys with super low mileage, I would make sure to request a transmission inspection before your warranty expires!! If you feel ANYTHING that remotely raises an eyebrow, you better get it checked out!
