Think this should have been in the redneck thread. Or if a fail, Darwin thread.
Actually I realize yesterday while helping out my daughter the if I put a step stool in the bed of the truck, I'll be able to fix her light above the garage. Will be much more stable than a ladder. So I'm right there with you. :like:

We have all put ladders in the bed of our trucks to get that extra height!!
?‍♂

I was doing an exterior of a log cabin which had a walk out basement and the largest ladder I had was a 32' which wouldn't reach the peak. So I backed my F150 down and put the ladder in the bed and got it that way. The homeowner looked out the window shook her head and went back inside. Sure I could've called my buddy and got his 40' ladder but I wanted to finish up and this was much quicker. Hey, at least the ladder was OSHA approved.

I kinda always figured no brain no pain LOL. I fortunately am tall enough to just use the truck bed without the ladder. David must be short LOL. I can hang my Christmas lights without a ladder even and I am only 6'1".

Yeah I'm 5'7" on a good day! So I'm use to having to "improvise" many situations being vertically challenged. I was at least somewhat smart as to have put the ladder legs all the way towards the back against the bulkhead. I was still young and dumb and only in my 30's but I still don't think that OSHA would've found that acceptable. lol

Ham Radio club I’m in does communication for many local events.
Saturday was the Athens gravel challenge a 20 mile and 54 mile race through the Baileys trail system and backcountry roads. If you mountain bike you need to make a trip to Baileys
I’m working up for the 20 mile next year
I used one of the clubs “shack in a box“ radios and set the antenna on my cover, powered through my Rock Pals battery box

Bought that 542i XP G chainsaw and drove some 600km up north. Cleared a few hectare plot next to a large lake from wind fallen trees to firewood and got the "cabin" (a 3 bedroom house) for "free" for a week. I got a vacation and owner got next winters firewood.

Drove back today.

Have to say that 542i XP is quite an improvement and the centrifugal clutch really works wonders on thicker trees. Drains the batteries much faster and the "save-mode" button, which drops the chain speed, is actually useful to conserve the battery losses when limbing. Tick it off when you need the speed&power, tick it on when you're doing easy stuff.

Will take off tomorrow morning bright and early. 400 miles to pick up a vargo van and 400 miles back home. Will be a heavy tow pics to come.

And put a huge dent on the tailgate. Backing up to a tree, backing up in a narro spot inbetween some trailers, tree in the camera, butttttttt...... it had a big branch and it bit me! ?

Saturday was our 33rd wedding anniversary. Drove to Maggie Valley NC for the Moonshine Valley F100 Show, then to Cherokee over Newfound Gap ending in Pigeon Forge TN for a few days. Herd of Elk right next to road leaving Cherokee but so crowded could not get off the road. Show was nice mix of trucks, Broncos, and Mustangs despite the show name, well worth $5 entrance fee
