MBS Extended Automatic Transmission Dipsticks now available

Hey Everyone,

I'm Mike, from Mike's Build Shop,

I figured I would put up a new topic and formally introduce my product, it's a Extended Automatic transmission Dipstick, for the 2019-2023 2.3T Ford Ranger with 10R80 transmission. Not like anyone is tired of the 160+ page previous topic that started all of this.

It is a plug and play transmission dipstick, it comes pre-marked in every way, the factory fluid level markings and the instructions on how to check the fluid are laser etched on the stick, as well as the required fluid type is printed on the handle, it is a reproduction OEM Ford dipstick handle for factory appearance.

I just have the one product so far, the Ranger extended transmission dipstick, but I do plan on developing one for the Bronco, F150, maybe Mustang.

It's been an interesting journey, from reading the original dipstick topic, to the post on April 13th, 2023 where I said:

Be curious if something can come from this post

What came from it? Me starting a company, Mike's Build Shop, (MBS for short) that builds extended automatic transmission dipsticks, I can only say Wow! It's been a long and bonkers trip at times, but overall it's been good.

It's really the power of social media, if Msfitoy had not put up the topic with the Poll, I would not have seen all the potential customers, combined with the fact, that the support and positive input from the members here, was such a motivating factor, it really made a difference.

So, Thank you very much, the supporters, the customers, everyone!

As of October 2025, unfortunately, the price is going up, due to the steep increase in the price of the materials to build the dipsticks, they will now be $209.00.

I can't say enough good stuff about Mike and his product. The "FitzStick" is exceptional in design and quality, and I love being able to maintain my trans fluid correctly with no muss or fuss. Many 10R80 transmissions were underfilled at the factory (mine was more than a quart low), which is just not acceptable if you ask me. With Mike's design, you can not only check the fluid, but also easily add/remove fluid to get exactly the right level. I liked the quality and design so much, I made an install video that I put up on my YT channel, that I'm honored Mike wanted to reference in his instructions:



As you can see, installation is pretty straightforward. If you plan to keep your Ranger long term, do yourself a favor and pick up an MBS stick.

Jeez - re-reading this and I sound like a full-on TV commercial. To be clear: I have no financial interest at all In the MBS stick. I'm just an enthusiastic customer that wants to see Mike succeed.

As owner of #12 (IIRC) I can say that Mike builds an absolutely fantastic product. Anyone remotely concerned with maintaining their 10R80 needs one of these (And a pan with a drain plug, but that's another issue altogether).

I ordered one of these and must say it is very well made. Install is pretty easy, just some tight spaces to work in - that's no surprise.

Just installed mine today.

The build quality, packaging, and instructions are outstanding.

The install is a bit of work, but that's because of the tight clearances it has to fit into.

Quangdog's video is excellent. Read the docs, and watch the video, and you'll be fine.

Talk about a amazing install video! It's amazingly professional and covered every step. Also this is a amazing product and amazing investment! I'm looking forward to when he makes the F150 model with the 5.0 Coyote!

It’s a very nice dipstick. It’s much easier to check levels. It is factory quality in every way. It is vastly superior to the other aftermarket dip stick options available. I you expect quality, this is the one.
