Electrolysis is a real problem, and will cause rapid corrosive issues, not to mention stray electrical currents.

Problem for many industries.

When I was in the Air Force, on aircraft they called it Disseminal metal corrosion.
Maybe that's what's causing all the recent problems with pieces n parts falling off planes.....

Do you mean dissimilar metal corrosion? don't you love auto- correct and it corrects it to the wrong word.

Aluminum is pretty much the worst when it comes to reacting with another metal, especially if the part is not coated.
It's why you will see very little in aluminum or alloy parts used around marine applications, especially where salt is present....it only takes a few days for aluminum to "weld" itself to another piece of metal, ruining both.
Hell I have a whole boat made of aluminum I'm working on. Freshwater use only.
The steel staples holding upholstery to wood left pits in the aluminum. Found nails that had been dropped somewhere along the way and have left permanent rust stains on the aluminum but fortunately no holes. Painting that area and going with aluminum staples when i get to that part. For an almost 50 yr old boat, it is not in terrible shape.
