2020 Ranger XL Super cab
Morning

I currently have a 2020 Ranger 4X4 super cab - the basics. I added a Sirius XM - connects through blue tooth and a weather tech bed liner. I like the truck but I am considering "upgrading" to get some nice additions. Any recommendations what may be the best year to go for used - I dont want to pay the 50 or 60 grand for the high end new.

I also considered Colorado or Frontier (I know this is a Ranger site). I know others have changed over.

Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks

what upgrades do you want?
Currently I have the XL with the towing package - AM/FM - basics. The built in Sirius, navigation (tech stuff) - the tremor package is nice. I did see a Colorado Trail Boss which I seen (I think it compares to the tremor Ranger. I guess a better way to say it would be the bells and whistles - what are my options. I am hearing iffy things about the 2024 Ranger and the 2025 Ranger could be a hybrid.

I have a '21 XLT 4WD Sport with the 302A package, tech and tow packages. More bells and whistles than I need or use regularly, but it does give me nice things that I DO use regularly and is my daily driver. Mine has been trouble free so far and a comfortable, nice truck.

Maybe a used XLT trim will give you what you're looking for while not breaking your budget.

so your willing to give up the scab configuration? how much are you going to loose on selling the truck? I am betting you could upgrade the head unit to XLT model. you could add the terrain selection knob. you can easily get better suspension than a tremor pack...

Gonna be tough getting a lot of bells and whistles. I guess you could replace the head unit maybe. Add some better speakers and a sub.

As for a hybrid in 2025, I seriously doubt it, though I'd love one too. Except, they will probably not offer a scab, so I'm just gonna keep my 2020.

Am I understanding correctly that the super cab is what people want the preferred? I thought the extra seating is what people liked?

I wouldnt lose anything trading it in or selling it. I have seen a few comments to replace the head unit - maybe thats the better option.

I would vote for just swapping head unit out

I mean you will miss out on some heated seats, power seats, and dual climate HVAC. The 5th gen ranger was a dated platform when it came to the US. next year the ranger will not be a hybrid... not sure where you heard this from.

I wouldn't say it's the preferred configuration for everyone, but it is for me. I don't have kids and prefer the 6' bed, so the scab is better for me. I had a toyota extended cab without the opening rear doors, and this is way better. I started a thread a few weeks back talking about SCABs and how the only one remaining with opening rear doors is the Frontier. It's a shame.

My perfect truck would be a plug in hybrid scab, with top end trim.
